I didn't come across the term squonking until recently and I don't think I've seen anyone using one of these boxes on the street. Surprisingly I don't see a stickied thread or anything in guides section of the site. I read a few guides online but they only represent the opinion of the author at the time of publication. I was hoping that this and some other section would have a stickied thread that frequently gets updated with information and links.

What is squonking and what are the pros and cons.
Who is squonking suited for.
What are the current best boxes in budget, mid and premium price range.
What do I need to know before getting into it.

I understand the basics that it uses fresh juice, gives more flavor and avoids the hassle of dripping. If it is so good, why isn't it more mainstream?

It's like dripping but the mod is bigger and it gets covered in juice on the inside instead of the outside.

I got that much, both that is a very simplified explanation for someone that is unfamiliar with dripping vs tank vs squonk.

Squonking is a lot more mainstream than you might think, 18 months ago then maybe it wasn't but now days it is, there so many squonkers available now... The pros are the flavour of dripping without having to drip... The cons are not much apart from having to fill the squonk bottle can be abit tricky but easy when you get used to it...

An awful lot of squonk mods on the high street these days.
Squonking started quite early in the vaping story. In 2009 carlos49 on the e cigarette forum is credited with making the first bespoke mods. This was picked up by small high end makers and the first commercial success came with the rio mod soon after. It's carried on in the high end market and exploded onto the budget market with kangers dripbox and dripbox 160 mods. The pico squeeze followed a little later along with the cov wraith. The high end market was boosted by small one man modders getting hold of cheaper 3d printers and these quickly gained a big cult following. Names like frankenskull and runt are still sought after.
There are two main designs, mech squonkers which like mech mods are a simple copper circuit with the battery connected to the 510 connector and a simple copper (or silver ) strip behind a simple button to make a switch.
(See the geekvape athena or vandy vape pulse)
The regulated mod versions are just the same as a regulated mod with a bottle of juice inset into it which is connected via a tube to the 510 connector.
(See the hcigar inbox or lostvape drone)

On both styles the 510 connector has a hollow centre which when a squonking rda is connected, juice can be "squonked" by pressing the bottle which pushes the juice up onto the deck of the rda to be wicked up by the coil.

I personally never got on with dripping so this system suits me. It allows me to carry enough juice around in the mod for an entire day.
There are rda' s available that suit mouth to lung vaping or direct to lung vaping and everything in between.
For mtl see the berserker rda or the snapdragon. For dtl vaping see the kryton rda or the tsunami 24 for reference but there are many more.

The thread is for squonkers to say hi. Perhaps in the 37 pages of posts it has some information but I doubt that many would read through it to find out.
I did a bit of googling but it was mostly product reviews and publications a year or more old. A lot can change in that much time so I was looking for a maintained source of information and links.

As someone who likes the simplicity of dripping and likes a small vaping device the cons are squonking is an unnecessary complication and requires a larger device because the bottle is in your mod rather than on the table or in your pocket. The pros and cons ultimately come down to personal preference. Just like tanks or drippers or rdta. Most folk will say conveniance is part of the reason behind their choice of device but can find different devices the most convenient.

@eyeball kid thanks for a comprehensive history and overview. So, do I need to press a power button and squeeze a bottle to use the device? Do none of these use a pump or some kind of hydroponic action to push up fluid? Otherwise I can imagine that the feed would be inconsistent.
