Hi. I want to vape but am getting confused with all the options. I am a heavy smoker. Can anyone recommend what I should buy? Thanks very much.

If you want to replicate smoking then you want a mouth to lung set up ( MTL ) & 18mg of the flavour of your choice, this should need to be a 50/50 mix of PG/VG or 60/40. There are so many options to chose from. Nowadays pods are all the go to , even 20mg nic salts would be worth trying.

Have a look at pods and others will be along shortly, Personally I like the vaporesso podstick.

Edit - if you want a tank you want something like
Innokin Kroma-R Zlide

Thank you, I've been looking at something called a vim.

Hi @Amapoleon, I can't offer advice around pods but plenty will know more than me there. I started with 50/50 liquid 18mg as I found that nic nalts blew my head off and didn't give me the throat hit I needed, it will take some experimentation to find what suits you.
I totally agree with @iqon that if you want a tank you can't go wrong with the Kroma R Zlide kit, excellent tank.

Hi @Amapoleon.

The Vim is pretty good I've heard. If you were a heavy smoker, you might want to check out the tank / mod setups that Jac (the makers of the Vim) also sell.

Why? Because the battery will last you longer, and you will have a wider variety of coils to try. And if you can afford a variable wattage mod like the DNA, you will be able to adjust the power you send through the coils too.

It's important to have as much flexibility as possible when you start vaping because until you find a vape that you personally find satisfactory, it will be much more tempting to hit the smokes again.

Conversely, when you find the setup that suits you, the temptation to smoke will just drop away.

The most important first question really is:

Do you want to directly replicate the action of smoking?

Many do, but when I switched from smoking, I didn't.

That's another advantage of a mod / tank setup. You can use it for both MTL or DTL vaping if you're not sure which you prefer yet.

Hi and welcome. Lots of good advise so far.
I would say it's worth getting a couple of mods and tanks, it certainly helped me. When ur starting out there is always issues where one needs charging, or one not performing quite right etc.
If you have a couple of different set ups you are always covered and wont slip back to the ciggies.

Also be aware that some mods have internal batteries where you just plug it into a USB charge port via the supplied cable (like a mobile phone), while others have external batteries.
If you get an external battery mod, you will need a few spare batteries and a good external charger.
