Which Mod?

Another vote for the Aegis Legend from me, just got one for the exact reason that I might drop it and I’m very pleased with it. I got it as the kit which comes with Geekvape’s Aero tank, you can get stock mesh coils for this tank which might be handy if rebuilding is a bit fiddly at this point? It’s a very airy tank but is serving me well for when I haven’t got time for rebuilding (the clouds from it are also very satisfying!) This kind of set up is known as DTL (Direct To Lung) and works better with higher VG liquids so it can be a bit more of an adjustment from smoking because that’s MTL (Mouth To Lung). So another option for you may be to get just the Aegis mod and buy an MTL tank separately. The clouds are generally less impressive from MTL but it might be an easier transition for you to start with. Then again it may not, I preferred DTL from the get go. The mod alone you can pick up around the 45 quid mark, I paid 60 including the Aero tank, I figured 15 quid was ok value to have a spare tank. All the best with both vaping and your recovery!

Thank you all for your excellent advice, so will get the Aegis legend with the Aero, but could you recommend a good MTL tank to go with it, so I can try both methods?

There's a few good mods out there and some that are crap. If you want a quality vape then choose a DNA chipped mod the looks are different with companies that make them. Buying a device with lots of wattage may not be for you but it's there incase you decide to use it.

If you want something more like a cigarette there's some good Pod systems, Yihi have one out for about £40 or the Lost vape DNA pod device is another that i expect to be good . The final thing is finding something that you like the look of which differs from person to person.

Voopoo drag mini has built in batteries the Drag2 is a bit bigger and you need 2 18650 batteries like samsung 25r or Sony vct5a/
Geekvape Legend is also great. I would avoid Smok or Ijoy personally though.

My advice is take a look at mods see what you like then come back and ask opinions this will help you choose your own mod but make a good choice after hearing from others.

Best wishes and sorry to hear about your ill health @Papalazaru1378

Just thought I’d mention, I got my Aegis Legend kit from Grey Haze. Linky here https://greyhaze.co.uk/products/aegis-legend-200w-tc-kit-by-geek-vape
They were the cheapest I found including shipping, also they have a lot of New Years offers on at the moment so may be worth checking for those, or you can just try VAPE15 as a discount code which worked for me.

MTL set ups have never been my thing but hopefully someone else can point you in a good direction on that front.

I would go with the people suggesting the Aegis, if you're likely to drop it, the rubberised coating is there just for that reason. It's also very good.
Read some reviews on MTL tanks here. https://www.ecigclick.co.uk/best-vape-tanks-clearomizer-e-cig-tanks/
If you are having problems with dexterity due to the stroke, maybe building RTA's/RDA's, is a bit of a step too far for now.
Ecigclick, are usually on the money for the advice they give, so there won't be any duds in the selection in the link above.
Sorry to hear about the stroke, a couple of good friends of mine recently suffered the same, one badly affected, one not so bad. Neither of them were smokers, or had an unhealthy lifestyle.

Life can deal a shit hand sometimes.

Thanks again to everyone for all the help, and good vibes. @MavicP yes you're definitely right that a stroke can come out of the blue for many, but for me I think it was the smoking a forest, drinking an Olympic swimming pool of Whisky and an over fondness for Kebabs what done it, and have all had to be knocked on the head. I've got my Aegis Legend now, with a horizontech falcon tank, have duly dropped it a couple of times, and love it with a bit of custard in it, though it's taken a few days to stop coughing when I inhale, but honestly I had no idea not smoking could be so much fun. Somebody also gave me their old Itaste VTR which I also love, because it looks really cool, and it's got this really nice rotateable pipe bit, which for some reason I find very relaxing to smoke. Another friend gave me one of those blu vape pens, which at first I thought would be a bit useless, but has been good, because you have to have a proper drag on it, and it helps a lot with that part of the craving. So the first week of non smoking for about 35 years has actually turned out to be more fun than the fags.

That's great news @Papalazaru1378 , I have a few Falcons and they're a great vape. (Stick to the M1 coils though).
The coughing will soon be a thing of the past and you can crack on with enjoying all the different flavours out there.

Vaping will always be more fun than fags....;)

I had no idea not smoking could be so much fun.
Welcome Papa.
I think most if not all of us have said "I smoke because I enjoy it". I can only speak for myself when I say that was complete bollocks. Of course I didn't enjoy it, I smoked because all the cool kids smoked so I pretended to like it and then I was addicted and did it because I had to. Sound familiar?
Different now though, because from the 9 or 12mg juice I started on, I'm now on 1 or 1.5mg, and that's only because I like the throat feel with a tiny bit of nicotine rather than without. I know I could quit the nic entirely if I wanted to because I did it for a month with no cravings, but as I said, I prefer it with. So now when I say I do it because I like it, I know I'm not in denial the way I was with smoking. And it's not just something I enjoy like I enjoy a nice meal, it's become a hobby with making my own juice and coils. And of course there's the money. I have chronic shinyitis resulting in a bookcase full of vape gear and yet my yearly spend is still less than a quarter of what it was on fags.

Save money, enjoy yourself and live longer. What's not to like? :D
