Hello all, I lost my vaping virginity a month ago so it mighy seem like a silly question but...

To stop getting dry hits i put a bit of eliquid directly into the mouthpiece to speed up wicking time. (Or whatever the name is to make the cotton wet).

I noticed theres a small puddle of eliquid inside the airhole area.

Might the eliquid conduct electricity and somehow cause an explosion?

Advice much appreiciated. I find this makes my vaping much more tasty and smoother, but want to check if it's safe. Cheers!

No it wont cause an explosion.
You shouldnt need to do this though.
What kit you using?
Hi and welcome btw

1st of all :hello: and :welcome1:to the planet......
Now are you using a rda if so this is called dripping what you are doing and is safe to do.....

Hi @Charlie8888 and welcome to the planet.

too early, me need coffee :)
we need to know what kit you are using first.
there are certain kits called drippers which is where you drip the juice down the top but these are more for experienced vapours where they build and wrap their own coils.
a normal tank which im guessing you have dripping down the top wont help much as the coil is usually in the base and vapour comes up through the tank after being heated. putting liquid down the chimney most prob wont even get to the coil but just give you a mouthful of juice.

a dry hit is usually caused by too high vg or you chain vaping and not giving the cotton enough time to soak up the liquid.
and no your safe, it wont expload.
as said knowing your mod, tank, coil used, juice ratio of vg/pg will help others advise better.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using an eleaf ijust3, my coil is 3 days old, and my juice is 70/30. But i am chain smoking it a bit. I will take a hit, close the air hole, suck to get the juice through the coil, and hit again

This was a common solution a few years ago when equipment was more primitive.

It even had a name, "Dry draw", and there's nothing wrong with doing it. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with your gear, just that you're asking too much of it.

If you use eliquid with nicotine in, maybe you need a stronger liquid. You'd be less likely to chain vape then. Welcome to the forum :)

Vaping longer than me then ;)

I noticed theres a small puddle of eliquid inside the airhole area.

That's little more than a nuisance, unless it pools sufficiently to run into your mod via the buttons or something, which can affect the circuitry on a regulated device.

Might the eliquid conduct electricity and somehow cause an explosion?

It's extremely unlikely, but see above.

There's the slight possibility of unexpected behaviour.

That said, just keep it clean and it'll not be a problem.

Yeah, maybe ;)

I keep cutting down the nic content of my juice to account for chaining...

Increasing the nic won't stop me chaining, it'll just make me dizzy.
