I was down to my last dregs of baccie. I didn't have enough to last the day, just enough to last till the postman came! Unfortunately in anticipation of this new electric cigarette device hat might finally free me from the clutches of tobacco, I cained my baccie so had to take a walk to the nearest garage to pick up some more. I deliberately chose the cheapest, nastiest stuff as I figured it was extra incentive to stop. I got out side, grabbed a rizla, broke the seal and made a rollie (always thin, perfectly straight with no baccie beard at either end-I'm fussy like that!). That cheap nasty baccie was actually quite nice, sweeter than my beloved drum-shit, do I really want to stop all this?
slow walk home, mulling things over. I loved to smoke. I wasn't a heavy smoker, but I always found it enjoyable. It was a break at the office, it was a social pint on Friday, it was a rite of passage and it was a part of my life...sure my lungs were abit shitty but did I really want to stop something I really enjoyed?
that doubt soon turned to excitement when I got home and found a brown padded envelope waiting for me. I ripped it open (the logo should have been a warning that I'd was about to sell myself to the devil!). A 510 Titan kit-2 250mah batteries, a box of cartridges and atomisers, a charger and a bottle of menthol juice plus a bottle of flavour as I'd already found the totally wicked forum and liked the sound of making my own liquids. I found that the batteries had charge so I filled up a cart, assembled the atty, screwed it into the battery and took a puff........
fucking hell! This was nice! Not just pleasant, bearable, or ok but proper nice! Minty and fresh, full of flavour and it felt like smoking. I really couldn't believe it so after an hour of vaping I had a rollie......actually I had half a rollie and chucked the rest out and shoved the new ecig back between my lips. I knew right then that I had stopped smoking! It really was that simple.
now I'm 3 years in and I guess I'm an old hand. I remember fluval and teabags, the advent of the revolutionary lavatube bringing VV to to masses, the first people to experiment with rebuildables (I still have my clockwork rta which was for a while the pinnacle of vaping geekdom), so many threats of politics getting in the way, the fall of ukv mk1 and the rise of the planet of the vapes. I've met some amazing people who have made a huge impact on my life and who I hope will always be my friends.
this last year has been the toughest. Going through my dad getting ill and passing away last October put things into perspective, but the support of everyone here helped me through (even though most of you didn't know it as I kept it all behind the scenes). Thanks to everyone who made me smile during that time I also reached a plateaux with my hobby. I realised that I didn't need to buy everything. I found my set up (roller and kfl) and it works, just a clean and rebuild and it's like new again. As a result I haven't bought anything new for a year! This will change at vapefest but I am perfectly happy with my set up-I'm doing it to pass the time rather than out of need. But having a "perfect" setup gets a little boring and I have days where I think I don't need to do this anymore....but then I read a post and remember how awesome this place is!
So to wrap this waffle up, thank you to everyone here for making my 3 year vaping journey a fun and exciting one. Sure, there have been some mental times, but I've survived and for that my lungs are grateful! Here's to the next 3 years and beyond....god knows what crazy gear we'll all be using then!
