Hello!
Ive recently started vaping. I have a innokin jem and a Hale flare.
Ive noticed with every liquid(different brands and flavours) i have bought that it hurts my throat. A scratchy feeling. The only one that hasnt was a pod salt but i would prefer to go with a lower nicotine.
All of my eliquids are 5050.
Does anyone have any recommendations of how to stop this? Is it something i just have to get used to?

When i went to buy new liquid today, the salesman recommended with the Jem to use 5050 - ive only used pod salt which is 5050 and worked great but the new liquid i got hurts.
The flare i was told i can use anything in, thepod salt was far too strong in it and other 5050s hurt.

Im very new to all of this so please bare with me!

Thanks for the help in advance :)

Amy

Hi Amy, welcome to the site :)2

We've all been there, so don't worry about noob questions. What level of nic are you on? The 2 things that give that throat hit are nicotine and PG. It makes sense that the nic salts didn't cause it for you, as salts are made in a different way to normal ("freebase") nicotine. Salt nic users often go for much higher nic levels specifically because it doesn't have that effect. So it could well be that the nic is too high for you. I started on 18mg nic and found it too harsh, dropping quickly to 15mg.

Other than that, it might be that a higher VG liquid suits you better. If lowering the nic doesn't help, maybe try a 70VG liquid in the Flare - probably best with the 0.8 ohm coil.

Don't be shy to pick our brains and ask questions, we all started out the same way ;)

I had the same when I started and had to drop my nicotine strength as well. @Leni has a good point about upping the vg level as well. Maybe try some 60/40 If you can get it.

Thanks so much for getting back to me!

I've bought a couple different strengths to see what works for me. I assumed 6 would be too little seeing as the pod salt was 20. So I got 12 and 18 to try.

I don't smoke particularly strong cigarettes so I think a 6 or 12 should be okay but I thought to try a few. I think I'll go order some 70 and 60 vgs at a lower nicotine strength now :)

I'm also wondering am I able to change flavours or do I need to put in a new coil each time?

Are there any brands you guys would recommend for both kits and liquids ?

Last question... for now.. I had to change my coil after 3 days as I started getting a burning taste (on the innokin). Is that a normal time frame?

Thanks again!

hi and welcome to the planet.

i dont know those kits your using so can you tell us what wattage you are running at.
for high nicotine like 12 & 18mg these are better suited to a mouth to lung tank at low wattage like 10-14watts with a high ohm coil.
higher end kits that come with a subtank which are used at a much higher wattage are best with lower nicotine like 3-6mg max and average wattage is 30-200watts depending on tank and coil.

most coils should last a good week but as everyone vapes differently then it can vary.
average for me is 1-2 weeks per coil but i am vaping on many mods so never continuously with the same kit. smok are the worst now as their QC has gone down the pan.

have a look at some of these juice supliers: drip drop, re juiced, LiQuid and so many more can be found here POTV Vendors & Recommended E Liquid Suppliers

Hi & welcome.

A 6mg without salt should be fine for you. A 60/40 mix will also make it less harsh.

How many a day were you smoking?

@MrDJ has you covered for everything with his link. Lot of good stuff to try on there.

With the coils it seems as if you might be using some really sweet juice. They tend to clog up the coils quicker. You'll find a lot of the vendors on the link are a bit easier on the sweetness without sacrificing flavour.

I reckon if the 12mg is ok you could try that for a while then maybe go to 6mg. You might vape more but your throat will tgank you for it.

@MrDJ The innokin which I am using has adjustable wattage from 10 - 13.5 and a coil of 1.6. Thanks for the info and the recommendations too! I'll check them out now.

@DripDrop Vapour Samantha awesome, I will buy both a 6 and 12 at a higher vg. Up to 20, I would say 16 - 18 on avg.

@Gitchy It's a mint juice with a fruit but does taste quite sweet so you're probably right! I used ecigarettes before and they had disposable clearomisers (I think is what they're called). I don't think I ever got a flavour/burning problem as I was filling them will different flavours and swapping them out constantly.

Perfect. I'll try a 12 and a 6, looking at higher VG.

You will find after a few weeks you'll have it nailed. You will find a juice that works for you.
