A Panegyric to @Stealthvape & Niffy the Wonder Wire...

Awww see now I gotta get some. How do you add niffy to escribe I can't seem to work out how to change the settings.

Go to Steam engine and download the CSV Table for Stealthvapes NiFe30, Save it somewhere easy to find then go to escribe and in one of the profiles Rename it NiFe30 (Or anything else you fancy) then select "Custom Material" in place of Nickel 200, Then at the right hand side click on "Load CSV" then in the Dialogue box got to the location you saved the CSV earlier and select it, click the open button and thats it, your custom material is now NiFe30 - don't forget to Upload the settings to your device.

Don't forget it's best to plug your device in and have it download the settings before you do all of this and it's probably a good Idea to save the settings as a profile after you've uploaded them, that way you can get them back anytime in just a few clicks...

I gave up on TC a while ago simply because it was too troublesome for me, the ni200 wire I was using always tasted a bit funky and it was too delicate for me to get a stable build.

So, I ordered this new fangled niffy 30 28awg wire from Stealthvape, which arrived the next day of course.

Did my first build on my uta2 clone - 7 wraps around a 3mm screwdriver leaving a small gap between each coil, came out at 0.22ohm.
Wicked it with muji, primed with El diablo St Louis, set it at 430F and took my first vape and it tasted great straight away!

So, it's as easy to use as kanthal, you can dry burn it, no funky taste at all, and it simply works brilliantly.
It's a winner!

Wow, NiFe30 appears to be really rather good, thanks Tubbyengineer

Placed a small 10m order with Stealthvape yesterday. Here today, and a single 3mm, 7 wrap coil thrown in my Sapor tonight on a Sigelei 75w, wick soaked in Fallstreak Cumulus, set to 360f and wow, taste that honey dew watermelon

Not much time to delve more tonight but looking forward to experimenting some more at the weekend.

I finally got round to taking my SV NiFe30 out for a spin. Very happy indeed.

I got the 0.32 mm variety. It's not very springy, it feels substantially softer than Dicodes NiFe30, but certainly a lot stronger than Ni200.

I'm finding myself settling around 190 oC, which is vaping around what I'd expect somewhere around the 215 oC setting with Ni200. This is a bigger offset than I expected based on the steam engine Ni equiv - however, consulting my own tables I notice that this offset is bang on where I'd expect it if the mod (VS rDNA40) was using a linear TCR of about 0.006 for Ni200. The steam engine Ni equiv is based on a (more realistic) non-linear TCR curve, but doesn't fit what I'm experiencing, so my suspicion is the rDNA40 uses a linear approximation. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated.

Edit, ok after vaping a bit it's settled in. 200 oC is giving me a nice 210 oCish vape, so it's looking close to the steam engine prediction. Great wire for Ni mode only mods, I'm never buying Ni200 again - thank you stealthvape.

I got some NiFe30 and Ni200 from Stealthvape today to have another go at TC. I've used NiFe30 in my goblin mini and honestly I don't think the Ni200 will even be opened. I've found the stuff a lot easier and enjoying it. Thank you Tubbyengineer.[emoji482]

Got my Niffy a couple of days ago. First up wrapped a 2.5mm coil, 28g btw, 9 wraps on my Lemo 2, came in between 1.4-2.0 - I put this down to only having an X-cube 2 and Evic VT to try it on. I changed the co-efficient on the X-cube to 0.005 (which is what I heard is right), but anything over 250F had a nasty taste. Changed it back to the basic Ni setting, but was still not impressed. However, over the space of about an hour vaping, it seemed to improve and I settled on 400F for a reasonably nice vape - but it didn't blow my socks off...

This morning I put an 8 wrap 2.5mm coil in a Derringer. I had a few hot leg problems, but we worked it out and now the coil and I are best friends. The X-cube 2 reads the coil as 0.11, which seemed lower than I was aiming for, but at 450F the Derringer is giving off lovely, flavourful plumes of vapour. I am now impressed.

Both of these coils were contact coils, I may try a spaced coil next as they seem to be the more popular. I will admit that I don't really know what the hell I am doing, but its all good fun as long as I don't blow myself up ;)

I'm running 7 wraps on 2.5 mm ID at 0.32 mm (28 gauge) and it's coming in at 0.20 Ohm (matching steam engine).

I wonder if contact coils are a bad idea here, it sounds like you may be providing a shorter path via the contacts if you're getting 0.11 Ohm. Also, since contact coils heat unevenly I imagine they're not ideal for TC.

Finally a wire that makes Temperature control easy to do, Rob's NiFe30 variant is a sheer delight to work with, stronger than Nickel, easier to coil than Titanium, sensible resistances - this wire has it all. Oh and did I mention that you can dry burn it? and when you do it goes an interesting "Stealth" black...

I've only built 4 coils so far, the first was an unmitigated disaster, mostly because an insane Jack Russell tried to jump on my lap while I was setting the coil in place, The second, A slightly spaced affair virtually threw itself into my Viggo dripper and worked from the first firing with an evenness and accuracy that was somewhat uncanny. The third in a KF4 Behaved immaculately when testing in power mode, producing a nice even glow and setting into place easily when gently squeezed as it cooled. Once wicked and fired it behaved in a most peculiar fashion - eventually traced to the KF4's utterly shitty connection system, even after cleaning it the TC mode refuses to rise above 350f, probably due to the KF4's poor connection quality. The fourth, just built in my Heron, wrapped easily, fitted quickly and simply, gave a fairly even glow on the first firing. Then, after a gentle squeeze as the coil cooled to set it into the traditional microcoil a second test fire produced a solid even glow reminiscent of a Kanthal build, a quick strum with a pointy tool revealed the coil to be fairly sturdy, probably the equivalent of a Kanthal coil of the same gauge. I threw a wick in it, More cotton than I'd normally use on a Nickel build, Juiced it up, popped the tank on and took a vape...

Ah, bliss - Exactly the kind of vape I like and expect from my Heron; warm, moist and flavourful. this is probably the easiest TC build I've done in the Heron, No struggling with soft and fragile Nickel, no need to bully recalcitrant Titanium into place - Just a quick, simple build with flavour and reliability...

As an added bonus, Niffy the Wonder Wire has a TCR closer to Ni200 so will require far less of a temperature offset in things like the DNA40 making it a great all rounder...

If you haven't got any, get it now, once word gets around it'll fly off the shelf...:D

Informative thread Tubs,so unless I have missed it which guage did you opt for,the 28?
