I premix bases mainly for convenience. Like you I have settled on a prefered ratio and nic level. Another advantage is that I handle concentrated nic far less often. Most of the time I'm simply adding flavour to a measured amount of premixed base. It's quick and easy.Is there any advantage in me pre-mixing my base + PG + VG ahead of time , as I plan to vape at 50/50 and 6mg all the time (for this batch anyway).
Would it save time for the steeping / blending process by doing this or is that more relevent when the concentrates are being added?
Bear in mind the reduced nic value when adding flavour. If you really want to vape at 6mg/ml and are adding 10-20% flavour, then your premix needs to be made up at 7-8mg/ml. I premix to 12mg because I'm happy to vape around 9-11mg - I don't really notice the difference.
If the concentrates you buy are 100% PG then you should adjust your premix in the same way - perhaps make up 60VG 40PG or even 65VG 35PG so the final mix is close to where you want it. If your concentrates are in 50/50 mix then you have no such adjustment to make.
Steeping/blending process or maturation time. I don't know whether it really speeds up maturation time or not. If you understand maturation to be the forming of chemical bonds then having VG, PG and nic working together for a while before adding flavours cannot possibly hinder the process and just might speed up the maturation time when the flavours are added. It might.
Yes you can make up a big batch of premixed base for this purpose. Just ensure you mix it thoroughly. Like many here I use a food blender or milk frother (depending on batch size) to mix everything thoroughly and get air through the ingredients. It does not hinder the maturation time, it just might speed it up ... but that's not something I get too hung up on.Final question (hopefully)
I'm getting 5 concentrates from Vampire Vapes today, hopefully.
Rather than make each 5 or 10 ml bottle seperately with nic, pg, vg .. is is ok to make a big batch of the nic, pg, vg then seperate it into the smaller bottles?
I'm just curious about keeping the 50/50 ratios if I do it that way. ie, the pg/vg not mixing together evenly in a bigger batch before seperating.
I just had a quick look at Vampire Vapes' website and I don't see any indication of what base the concentrate comes in. Without this information I'd assume it's 100PG. You're the customer not me so in your shoes I'd be asking them to clarify this. It's useful information in your mixing as you'll appreciate.
