I am looking into taking the jump and making my own coils. I currently have a Segelei 30watt but am interested in getting the Segelei 100 watt.

What is the best place online to get the kanthal wire and also the rda's and what is the best rda for a newbie coil builder to buy?

The Segelei 100 watt plus looks like a superb mod, but I can't justify the outlay unless I start building my own coils.

Wire from crazywirecompany (they have two different websites I think, confusing)

And for a starter dripper... Tugboat V2 is a good start.

Suggest for starting, you get short lengths (a few metres) of a variety of gauges, to find which you/your gear prefer; I got mine from Vapercaper, wasn't expensive (has Muji cotton, too).

If you've worked on a Kayfun then the build deck of any 22mm RDA won't be a problem; if coming from clearos, and are concerned about how fiddly building will be, then as a first RDA consider the 28.5mm RDA's meant for 26650 mods - easier to work on, everything is bigger.

Ideally, if you're near a decent vape shop, get your paws on the RDA and take it to bits in the shop, before buying. I've bought two RDA's from UK vendors by post, and too many from FT, and the biggest problem with all of them has been jammed topcaps. The advice is, lube the 0-rings; which is a fat lot of good, when you can't get the top off to get at the 0-rings. Rant over. Going for a lie down now...

Thanks mate. I am a complete newbie at coil building. Will be learning on the go via youtube videos by the like of Rip Trippers. I expect a lot of swearing will occur when I start.

Oh yes, plenty of swearing! And wasted wire. And off-cuts that ping into the distance (try to keep track of them; nasty if get stuck in finger/foot/dog).

For videos, I like sergeant2211; German guy, doesn't speak, just music, shows everything to camera.

Blowtorch isn't essential, btw; makes wire less springy, and burns off any residue (but can do latter when test dry-burning on mod).

More good tips. Thanks again. Hopefully, it will be easy to pick up after a while.

Going to order some kanthal today. Is it worth also getting the Subtank in addition to a dedicated RDA? As that comes with a rebuild able deck as well as pre made coils.

Also is the Sigelei 100w plus overkill? Or should I use my Sig 30w to start off with?

If you ain't planning on ridiculous sub ohm builds your 30watt should be fine stick to 1-1.5ohm builds for a bit don't run before you can walk believe me I speak from experience of doing just that

Make sure you learn ohms law or at the least have a good understanding of it

Above all else be safe

Enjoy your vape

Makes sense. So for the time being just stick to the Atlantis for sub ohm vapes?

I have a lot of reading to do, but since started vaping have got drawn into the tech side of it.
