Wow seriously a year? Unfortunately mine is a electric stove so I can't do that, I would have to glow them cherry red on the mod then dump them into water before brushing. This thread has caught my interest, I once had one of Reggies` coils in one of my rda`s for the best part of a year, in the end I moved on from the rda but iirc the coil is still in there. I tried all the usual ways of coil maintenance as a learning exercise and found the best way was to glow the coil to a dull cherry red over a gas ring followed by quenching, drying, a quick brush with an interdental brush then finish with a blast of compressed air. Not worth all the arsing, just buy/make a new coil.
Well it depends, how much did the coils cost you and what type of coil were they?
