Am I going mad about the topside dual

The SX5** series is known dor being a battery draining board. Will happily take batteries down to less than 2v & render them useless unless you have a charger capable of reviving dead cells. And Yihi boards can be a pain to install firmware on as you need the official software to run updates, which is flakey at best.

Well that seems a bit silly just putting that chip in the Carbon, my duals were out at the similar time when the Carbon was released and both are Limited Edition and have the normal Dovpo chip as far as i know. I can't understand why they would do something like that, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" springs to mind.

Aye, I totally agree. Guess it was all about making it more premium but based on what I’ve read it was unnecessary, apparently a lot of the affordable manufacturers stopped their plans to release dual 18650 squonkers after the topside dual came out because of the bottle design.

Tbf, they could re release the carbon with a normal chip and I’d be interested. It’s a great looking finish.

Yeah, it was just so they could put "YiHi" on the box and charge a premium. Although the carbon and resin coating looks gorgeous, it's just a thin shell placed over a standard topside dual. It was definitely overpriced. Especially when you take into consideration the dna250c topgear they've just released which has the same carbon and resin casing. It's a pity they didn't use a dna250c for both.

It would've been an absolutely perfect squonk mod with a dna250c chip. No doubt.

I have to agree, having owned a Drone DNA250c, I much prefer the form and feel of the Topside. The Drone just felt flimsy to me. If you put one of each in front of me and asked me to choose one as a gift, I'd pick the topside all day long, despite the inferior chip.

I have the Original Drone, it has a DNA chip but not the 250c, lovely squonk mod and works as it should, not a big fan of the bottle placement as it's a pain to squonk but other than that it's a nice mod. It does a good job once you have got used to it. I bought a couple of Silicone squonk bottles which also helps.

The original was a much more solid build than the new Drone. If I'd been able to get my hands on one of those I'd have kept it. But the new one, nah, didn't do it for me.

I actually like the overall look of the 250c Drone and looking at it on you tube etc . It is nice having the original which i bought off another Ape. I wouldn't mind a 250c one just to see how it compares, i can't imagine there being a big difference. I like Lost Vape stuff anyway.

It looks good, yes. But in my experience, it creaked and groaned a bit whilst squeezing it. The door had to be wiggled about a bit to get it off instead of just a straight pull.
Great board and all that but the chassis was lacking a bit. The exact opposite of the Grus as it goes.
