I'm reading the new policy as clarifying the situation re e-cigarettes. Is Pre-Approval a problem for vendors?

From the Tin-foil perspective I suppose this is a way to get e-cig/vape vendors out in the open and then fuck 'em over... I don't know... are PayPal that devious?

I'm going to say a resounding YES ;)

I'm certainly not going to stick my head above the parapet until I sort out another payment option....My problem is that I'm small fry when it comes down to the amount of money going through my account with paypal, and they can dump me at any time.....It put's me off ordering in larger quantities of stock that I might be left high and dry with if it all goes tits up....

This was a major issue for me but it was Ebay that left me high and dry. Placed a large order last year as the first order I had flew off the shelfs on my ebay store (all products listed as ehisha). Then, within the blink of an eye, I had everything removed and I was stuck with a lot of stock and no sales channels. This was prior to the website being launched.

The problem with payment gateway merchants and sales platforms like ebay, amazon etc, is if you are in their playground, you have to play by their rules. :(

I looked at Shopify for a possible platform if I go ahead with selling anything ecig related and they are fine with it, as I use them for another business.

But they accept Paypal/Stripe/Shopify payments (stripe rebranded) as default payments. Stripe has a strict no ecig policy. They also have a strict no porn/sex/fetish product policy too but I have stripe approval due to appealing a rejection. I could move to Shopify Payments and save money as I'm pre approved for stripe but technically I'm still prohibited from using Shopify Payments because of what I sell.

Messed up world.

The vaping industry is worth how many billion dollars a year again?

Paypal wants to turn their back on that?

Good luck to em! ;)

Taken from PayPals reply to me earlier

Thank you for contacting PayPal regarding the sale of e-cigarettes and e-liquid. At this time, there is no policy change and the sites can use PayPal as the method of payment if based outside of the United States, Canada, and Brazil.

Danny K sounds like just protection if countries enact the TPD or other similar restrictions then... so shouldn't affect sales/ ability to use in the meantime but as soon as any changes are enforced they are already covered. ..
