Another fire caused by a charging E-cig

oki doki you have a point like you stating the cardboard box looks official it aint a clone, say it as you mean it a twat after all is a twat.

I'm off for vodka n coke in the lounge.

i also linked to loads of websites that all state that the packaging is a good way to spot fakes, even batteries. was there a point to your post or have you just got sand in your vagina over that post from days ago? enjoy your vodka and coke...

you're right, i should have used the term "wrong power supply craic" i was wrong. i wasn't aware that there was such a thing as an unregulated charger. i've got a few chargers that look like that, they're still regulated but to 150mah instead of 450mah like the ego charger. do you have a link to one of these unregulated chargers? i'm not disbelieving you it's just the first time i've heard it mentioned. i was also meaning the usb power supply was one of the shit 50p ones that come with some ecigs.

It was this type of charger

I can't find the exact picture, but someone posted a pic of one that they'd cut open, there was no circuitry just direct links to the power pins in the USB

wow, i don't have any words. that's fecking lethal. surely that means it's outputting 5v to the battery? which is definitely bad news irrespective of the power supply used.

even if people are being put off using iPhone/iPad chargers and the like because of chargers like this, i still see no reason to call them stupid or say they deserve it for using xx power supply like i have seen a good few times on this site. even without any electronics knowledge, people don't expect to buy a product that's going to charge their device past capacity and voltage into a dangerous state. that's the main thing i'm getting at.

Yep, lethal is the right word for them, they are ok if you pull the battery as soon as it reaches full charge - if you dont it just keeps raising the voltage in the battery until 5v or it fails, usually they go pop around 4.8 -5.2v. Yes you're right people just expect everything to work as they want it to, mostly because they dont know better, conditioned enough to the idea of USB being universal but unwilling to read the instructions because "It's universal" so I dont need to...
