I'm watching this but I fear any protest, which creates media attention, would create a backlash (as it currently stands...pls read before having a go at me)

If you ask joe soap what he thinks of smokers right now, he will say "knobs". Because it has been 20 years of propoganda to alienate smokers. And probably rightly so. In their eyes, we are still smokers, but of another breed.

You want to go stand and have a friendly gathering outside the BBC offices, you may well get on tv, and everybody watching will point and say "look at those knobs" which will do more harm.

We may be 1 million vapers, 10 million smokers, but we are against 60million non-vapers/non-smokers who have been taught to hate "us" (they see us as smokers)

We need to be more proactive in changing public perception, to show what we are doing is not smoking in any way, shape or form. Smoking is to vaping as herion is to insulin

Vern i'm not gonna have a go at you for that vern you may be right I understand where you're coming from the bbc silent protest thing could go the wrong way, they could look at us and say look at those knobs or they could take it that we're trying to prove a worthless point or they could ignore us completely but even if we got through to just a few people I think it would be worth it.

true, but we cant predict the future, all we can currently do is guess using data available to us
if there is an opportunity for this to do good, then there also must exist an opportunity for this to do bad.
it all depends on the timing, if the public are sympathetic, we are good to go.

great point for the most part i feel the public dont care either way because they simply don't know about them apart from what they read in the daily mail and we all know what their opinion is.

It could go that way but without engaging the general public we don't stand a chance,without media coverage we will never get the chance to tell people what is happening.
Not just non vapers or smokers but also the vapers that have no idea this is happening! Yes they do exist, I met 2 other vapers yesterday who had no idea about the ban due to the media blackout and vendors not informing them on what is happening.
So it's a case of do we die with a whimper like they want us to or do we kick up a bit of fuss and see what happens,At least then we know we have tried!

There are loads of vapers out there who know nothing of the drama going on - mostly folk who've picked up a blister pack at the market and never explored vaping any further. Met 2 such types a couple of weeks ago at work. I'm thinking of getting a poster up, as we rent offices in a building where the public comes in for benefit advice & access to work stuff

If you do get a poster put it up so we can make copies I'm going to make copies of the fliers that were on here recently and leave some everywhere doctors office dentists pubs toilets absolutely everywhere
