Hi guys and happy new years!

I've been using the Aspire Neeko for sometime now for an MTL experience, building my own coils with help from rew. 6 wraps, 2.5mm ID coil, 27awg. I'm now wanting to buy my first DTL RDTA. I like the Aspire kumo and was thinking of buying one soon to start me off. I'd like to wrap my own coils but I'm not sure what to buy, so any advice would be appreciated.

I've read I can use a single wire A1 kanthal for wattage control which I think I'd prefer to start with as I can use the mods that I already have. Can I use the A1 kanthal 27awg that all ready have or should I buy new wire?

I'd also like to build fused claptons? from a pre-made 15ft spool so to speak. What can I expect to achieve, what should I buy, how many wraps etc and what are you guys using?

Thanks a ton in advance!

@Jay1986 I am a huge fan of the Kumo and yes, you'll be fine with Kanthal OR Fused Claptons etc. I would definitely say the Kumo is a RDL though, so be aware.

Thanks Rob, RDL might actually be good for me as I like the "draw" of a MTL similar to a cigarette...nasty things. The geekvape peerless RDTA caught my eye too but I'll be going with the Kumo I recon. I'm just not sure about the coil building aspect, I suppose it's a learning curve, but the A1 kanthal 27awg I've already got is a go'er for the kumo too yeah?

I was looking at 15ft of "geek vape twisted clapton wire 28ga*2+32ga". Should I go with this or is there better options do you think?

Yes Fella, the Kanthal you already have will do the job. I'd suggest an inner diameter of either 2.5 or 3 with the Top of the Coil just below the top of the Posts :) And yes to the Clapton wire you suggest.

Some man, much appreciated and happy vaping bro :2thumbsup:

I've noticed my kumo does particularly well with coils that have a lot of mass, I would suggest hitting up @Reggiec for some sfc's

Hi mate thanks for the reply. What does sfc stand for?

I just got my order in for my new kumo, with that geek vape twisted clapton wire 28ga*2+32ga I mentioned. Is this thick enough do you think?

Staggered fused Claptons. They are the signature coil of a coil maker on the forum. Very high quality and perfect for the kumo.

Those look good. I found a 10ft spool on sale on amazon, Aiture brand, pirate (TM) coil. I might try them in the future thanks.

Here’s a Tricore Staggered Fused Clapton.

Its 3x30g cores and 40g Staggered and Fused
