Batteries

What batteries are you comparing these to. Are your other sets all 30q's as if they are a higher MaH battery the others will last longer

Hey, I compared them to these Efest ones and I have another set of the ones in question which last longer. Yeah I have some 2500MaH ones which I tend to keep for emergencies!

I put them straight into my d4 to see and they were pretty much empty, flashing on the first bar indicator.
It could be that they were badly stored then. Batteries should be stored half charged at around 3.5 to 3.7 volts, and periodically checked and topped up to half charge I think.

If they are allowed to drop below their minimum charge it can damage them, which can cause them to not hold their charge.

I'm not saying that's what's happened, but it sounds like a possibility. Perhaps @Ben fogstar can advise on this?

All my 18650s have been between around half charged when I got them.

If that were the case I would be returning them to the shop, describing the problem and asking them if they keep an eye on the charge of their stock.

What does the flashing 1 bar mean on your charger? Does that usually happen when you charge batteries that your mod says need charging, or is it like an over-discharged battery recovery mode which some chargers have?

Thanks for the info there, and yes all other batteries I have purchased have been half charged or more and they perform fine. Sounds like that may be what’s up with them, they charge and discharge quicker.
I’ll pop down the store soon as I have chance and let them know what’s happened with them, if it is that hopefully will save anyone else getting some.
Yeah my charger flashes each bar as the battery gets a higher charge until there are 5 solid bars. I don’t think my one is very flash to have that nice little feature on it, may invest in a new one soon though!

They look authentic, but I've stopped buying 30Qs because
* They are not, IMO, safe at a constant 20A as claimed and
* They lose capacity so quickly, by the time you've recharged them half a dozen times they're down to 2000mAh. I've replaced them with VTC5As, which although they start off with less capacity, they hold onto it much much longer, and they can easily put up with 20A all day long.

The 30q is a 15a cell as stated by Samsung themselves on the wrap, and also by Mooch - he states that they can run safely at 20a provided they stay below 75c which is the tricky part. He classes them as an 'energy' cell as opposed to a 'power' cell like VTC5a's or Samsung 20s.

I've never seen the allure of Samsung 30q, they're expensive compared to Samsung 25r which does have a 20a rating, and performs better overall, just has less capacity.
