What's new

Whats the biggest mistake you made whilst you have vaped?

No was a weird one. It was a series box mod. The one with a colour screen. Closed bat door. Had a vape. Let go of flirting button. Mod wouldn't stop firing. Then instantly got hot and began the old hiss of a thermal run away.

Can only assume a hard short on the board or something. Strange because you would of thought the short and 10 sec firing protections would of kicked in.
I had a IPV D2 do something similar, I felt heat in my pocket and it was auto firing, the 10 sec protection didn't kick in either so I had to pull the battery.

Luckily it was only firing at about 30W so the battery was not hot, it was just the atomiser that had heated up for firing god knows how long in my pocket.

Dual 18650 parallel brass mech mod, I inserted the batteries in series View attachment 361394

I've done that, the mod got REALLY hot instantly. luckily it had a magnetic door and I managed to get the batteries out before it turned into a firework. The batteries didn't vent but they were destroyed, the wraps had completely melted and I burnt my fingers trying to pick them up.

Now I sit by an open window before putting batteries in parallel mechs so I can throw the bastard if I do a dumb.

I might have had a brain fart but didn't Kizoku do the Limitless or am i thinking of something else ?.

EDIT:- Think it might of been Kizoku Unlimited, i remember loads on here were going mad for them, i bought 2 and they weren't bad if i remember right.

Excellent rta, still use mine from time to time.

Biggest mistake I ever made was taking notice of reviews and spending a fortune on shite. I no longer take any notice of reviews.

For me I was using a dead rabbit V2. Had some pretty tasty ni80 triple core fused staggertons on the build. Came in around 0.1. Hitting that at around 90watts. Probably why the mod went boom.

If I'm honest. I'm the first to preach battery safety. But when I run the numbers. I'm close to 30 Amps there if not more. How ever. Watching a vtc5 go boom was pretty impressive.

Just glad it was a bearer daily carry not one of the more expensive on the shelf.

Sorry mate was this on a mech mod, if so what type, or regulated and dual or triple 18650's? I only ask as with regulated its only the watts that matter not the resistance, so with a dual 18650 regulated mod would be just over 16A being drawn from the batteries. Apologies if you answered this earlier I can't seem to find your post.

Same here, I'm the first to preach battery safety but will admit that in the past I have used the odd bit of electrical tape to cover a nick in a wrap until I had time to rewrap it for example.

I imagine it was impressive, I don't know how the 25R's didn't go boom when I hard shorted them in the Abaddon, the wraps just melted off and the batteries had obviously vented but luckily didn't go into thermal runaway.

Did it destroy the mod then? Again if you have answered I do apologise.

Dual 18650 regulated. Was a pretty fire work display. Even asked geek cus services as to what could of happened or if it was a fault of my own. They was stumped also.

All I can put it down to. Battery over heat then thermal runaway. But can't explain why the chips safeties didn't kick in. Totally destroyed the mod. How ever. New glass and drip tip and the atty was fine and dandy.

And no worries. It's cool.

Wow, I am not sure what happened there then as you was within the CDR of even a 20A battery. Geek Vape being stumped also shows it was a random fluke.

I imagine the mod might have actually been firing at higher than 90W- this could have stressed the batteries above their CDR and caused the thermal runaway situation.

I can't explain why the boards safety did not kick in on my IPV D2 either, it just kept autofiring in my pocket until I noticed, it was frozen no buttons working so I had to pull the battery to stop it firing.
