Whats the biggest mistake you made whilst you have vaped?

Now, we know vaping is good- it helped us all quit smoking, but I was thinking of a mishap I had years ago and thought I would share it, and if other users could share theirs?

I was using the original Wismec noisy cricket series mech for a good few days, but then thought I would change to my dual parallel Abaddon with a different RDA built for it.

I got it ready, put the batteries in, and immediately noticed the mod was getting warm. Then it got hot, so hot I could barely hold it. Luckily my bedroom window was open so I lobbed it out of the window, as there was no way for me to pop off the sliding removable battery door with the heat and speed they was heating up.

It sat in my garden for about an hour until I went to check it- the plastic wrap had completely melted off of a set of 25R's and it appeared that they had both vented. Somehow the mod was still together.

Where I had been using the noisy cricket I had without thinking put the batteries in series into a parallel mech mod, which instantly shorted it the moment I slid on the battery cover.

The batteries were obviously only fit for the bin, but the mod remained unharmed and still works to this day.

This is still better than the vape shop owner I met who built at 0.08 Ohms for his single 18650 mech, and told me it was extremely safe, then mentioned he had "Only" vented 8 batteries building this low.

Another time I had an IPV D2 in my pocket, and felt warmth near my chest as it was an inside pocket of my coat. I grabbed the mod out, and it was stuck autofiring constantly, the cut out time was not working and I could only switch it off by pulling the battery. Luckily I wasn't vaping at a power that would stress the battery so the battery was fine, it was just the RTA that was heating up from being fired constantly, but I never used the IPV D2 again and replaced it with a D3.

So does anyone have any stories of when things have gone wrong for them, what happened and was you ok?
Had a similar issue with the geekvape ageis. Legend. But sadly for me. After launching it down the garden and an almighty bang. Got hit with the battery door and what I can only think was the fire button.

But my biggest mistake. Was my sentinel M16 mech. Forgot to lock it. Stood up on The table went back to watching telly. It wasn't till the smell of burning wood hit me that I realised what I had done. The mod was so hot I had the M16 logo burnt I to the table. Needless to say. The Mrs never forgive me for that. And a couple grand later on a new table. Id learnt by my mistakes.

Put an 18650 in my pocket and it must have reacted with my keys. I felt an urgent heat sensation on my thigh. Took it straight out my pocket and threw it on the grass. I could still use it afterwards.

Dual 18650 parallel brass mech mod, I inserted the batteries in series View attachment 361394
You did the same as me then, did the batteries immediately short like mine did or was it not until you pressed the fire button?
On my Profile Unity, wattage was set to 240w.
Please tell me you had set that by mistake lol, what mod was you using that could reach 240W?

Same as many of us have done burnt fingers on hot coils another is forgetting you took the drip tip off your RDA and take a puff again burnt lips 🥵
I have luckily never done the one where you take the topcap off of your RDA and tried to puff it- there is still time though lol

Wow, thats one of the first things regarding carrying batteries when it comes to battery safety. Where you could use it after I personally would not have, it could have reached a temperature that was within its safe rating but if it went higher the battery could have been damaged.

Add me to the list, I used to be the go too guy here when it came to batteries and battery safety, not currently up on the latest cells used for vaping but will be soon :)

So you put the batteries in series by mistake and it shorted like I did? Luckily mine didn't go bang, it just vented the batteries and melted the wraps off of both cells. It was lucky you threw it in time.

I gather you had forgot to use the locking ring on the M16 for this to happen, it was lucky you caught it in time before the battery exploded! I feel bad for you with the table though!

Hard short yes, I was walking up the stairs in the semi dark, putting the batteries in, which is I agree a mighty odd thing to do: putting batteries in a mod whilst walking up the stairs

The battery door was a bottom slide off affair, I managed to push it off very quickly with my thumb and flicked the batteries out and away down the stairs, maybe with a split second to spare, the mod was already scorching hot and lighting the hall stairs up, sparking like crazy, giving off smoke. Time from start to finish was probably 2 - 2.5 seconds.

Just a standard 2 bat regulated mod, cant remember which one, It had somehow reset to the highest wattage

Ooh a hard short like mine as well, I remember it also being literal seconds from inserting the batteries, then putting on the sliding door just as you describe, and the imediate heat and thinking fuck, throw it out of the window.
Did the batteries actually explode at the bottom of the stairs, or was it just the crazy sparking and smoking?

Wow thats crazy for a regulated mod to go up to 240W with 2 batteries! That is demanding over 43A per battery assuming 90% efficiency of the board!

They carried on smoking plus the stench of burning, I managed to pick them up with a towel or something and launched them out the backdoor, down to the end of the garden.
