Thank you so much for everyone's help on this. The video was brilliant and so helpful too. Anyway after a day or two of failing to get it going, I ended up returning the battery to the supplier. he checked it and it turned out a wire had come off, possibly due to heavy handling in the post run.
Anyway I'm happy to say the supplier quickly sent me a replacement which is working fine first time. My introduction into vaping is now officially a success and I even have my husband in vape training, using my old battery which is still working after all that...!
