Best nicotine base . . . PG or VG?

So I want to start looking into mixing my own juice, but ive noticed you can get a PG and VG based nicotine fluid. Which of the two is the better, if theres a difference?

They'll both be suitable nicotine to task, but it really depends on what kind of ratio you want to vape at, and what strength. Picking a PG nicotine at a high strength and wanting a high VG ratio doesn't leave much room for flavour for example.

So say I want a 60/40 mix, would it be best to go for a PG nic base? I didn't realise you had to take the nic base into consideration!

It will also depend on your nicotine strength.

So lets say you wanted 60%pg 40%VG, and 20% flavour concentrate. Most flavours are pg so that's 20% PG you can't avoid so far. If you wanted 80%VG, right here your decision would be made because you'd have to have the rest of the mix be VG and VG based nic.

You've got much more wiggle room in your desired ratio though. Best thing to do is play around with the ejuice calculator that's linked somewhere near the top, or download something like ejuicemeup and play around with numbers, it'll make it much clearer than lines of text imo :)

I've just downloaded ejuicemup, its the best calculator I've seen yet. So, would it be safe to assume most flavour will be 100% pg? Also I've seen you can get 50/50 nic base, would that give more wriggle room? Thanks for your time with this buddy :worship:

Indeed, VG flavours are rather uncommon. 50/50 nic base would give you some more wriggle room, but you possibly won't need it.

So in the calculator, value of flavour % as 100% pg and stick to a 100% pg nic base too? Sorry for all the question, just want to get it right first time!

For most people, it won't really matter whether your nic is pg or vg - which you choose will just dictate how much pg or vg you'll need to add, it's only an issue if you want a very high ratio of pg or vg (anything 80% or more) - assuming maximum 20% flavouring.

I usually mix at 50/50, and can do that easily with pg or vg nic base

It makes some sense to me to use PG base

as plain VG is generally cheaper and easier to get than PG (boots!) it makes sense to have the PG part of the ratio in with the Nic.

Also .. PG Nic lasts on the shelf better than VG Nic

Thanks for the advice mate, I'll go for a pg based nic. When it comes to calculators, if it give me the option to input the pg/vg % of juice should I put it at 100% pg or select no value? The ejuicemeup program gives the option you see!
