Afternoon all,

I've been vaping for now for just over a couple of months, and really enjoying it. My tastebuds have now come back to life after kicking the fags!

I started with the Pockex and then moved onto the Geekvape Aegis legend after visiting the very helpful @Huggett and @Chris K at Steam.

At the moment I'm vaping MTL.

I have been using it with the Nautilus 2 tank that I was lucky enough to win on a competition on the site. However as part of the same competition I won a Siren 25 GTA.

I've always been a tinkerer, so I now want to move onto building my own coils for the Siren tank, so I don't end up spending lots of money buying stock coils for the Nautilus tank.

I've watched several YouTube videos about building and wicking the Siren tank.

My question is should I start slowly and possibly buy some premade coils and cotton first to get the hang of wicking, or should I just go plums deep into it and buy a coiling kit?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Just go balls deep mate. It's easier than it looks.

I've found a lot of the premade coils are very similar to ones you can wind with wire anyway, unless you want super fancy ones.

Give it a week or 2 and you'll be putting coils in your tank within minutes.

Thanks! I'm leaning that way too at the moment. I'm also prepared for a few stuff ups along the way, but I suppose the only way you learn is with practice!

I think the main thing to learn is how to wick your particular tank. Every tank is a bit different. Sometimes you manage it straight away and others it takes a while to nail it. Very nice feeling when you get it right.

Enjoy mate.

I use my Siren(22mm) since it released and I really like it @nottsbloke
I use 28awg kanthal round wire 6-8wraps micro coils in it
Youtube is your best friend so you can watch couple of vids how to make your micro coil
The wicking is the trickier part. Make sure your wick does not touch the air reducer under the coil because it causes leaks( it looks like an upside down U-shape)
And do not let the wicking tails go all the way to the bottom of the tank just under your deck. It causes wicking problem and you will loose a significant amount of flavour

Simple micro coils work really well in MTL rebuildable tanks. You don't need fancy claptons etc. Get a few reels of Kanthal in 27, 28 awg.

Thanks for the tip. I want to start to tinker and build coils, but since I'm a relative newbie it's going to be baby steps first!
