Burnt rubber taste

Guys,

I need a dummies version as to why I get the burnt rubber taste after rebuilding an evod!

I use kanthal .20 wire and two strands of 2mm wick. I've even tried burning the coil with a lighter and then wiped it clean with no residue. I have torch on the way.

The rubber components do not seem black or burnt at all.

Any advice?

Is your coil wrapped tight enough round the wicks? You need to make sure that the coil is touching the wick. Any gaps and you'll get that burnt taste.

Also, if the coil is wrapped too tight it will strangle your wick. That will also cause a bad taste.

clint I think it may be the latter. I will retry and not wrap them as tight.

It's just down to practice. You'll soon get to a point where you can just do them without even thinking about it.

Nah man. I have tried about 5 more coils and the same taste. I dont know what's going wrong. I will post pics of a coil later tonight if I am sober enough lol

I have used about 2 foot of wick now and this is bloody doing my head in. When i use single 'legs' I get the burnt taste and when I twist it shorts on me.

SOOOOOOO F****** frustrating!

You've scorched the insulator or an o ring.Probably the coil was too close or you had a hot leg. You won't get rid of the taste once its scorched

+1 Hobbit I tried boiling the lot in a pan for an hour,couldn't smell a thing yet soon as I built it up,fker tasted burnt.Only way I got rid of the burnt taste was bin it(complete T3S)& use another.

Maybe try using a sleeving.........

Guys, I tried using 6 different heads to rebuild and all the same thing. I've watched about 10 different videos on how to do it etc.., tried with T3 and protank too. Same B****** happening. I feel like its a myth and not really possible lol I had lovely equally spaced coils, not touching either end of the casing, each 'leg' not touching, no extruding wire when I cut it... even tried just wiggling it until it broke; i tired tight coils, loose coils and inbetween many times.

I think it is definitely time to give up. Thanks for your replies... ordering heads of ebay now.
