Hi ,

I'm new to vaping and recently bought an aspire Zelos to start with.
I have been using 0.7 ohm coils .
As you most are aware theres temp control on the Zelos .
and i'm confused by this .
on the 0.7 hm coils is written that it should be used between 18 watt and 23 watt
but it doesnt say a thing about voltage or anything else .
Now ive been using it at 19 or 20 watt at first but noticed on my device that when i vaped the ohm indicator runs up to 0.76 - 0.78 ohm . is it ok for them coils to run at higher then 0.7 ohm because always after a couple of days it starts to taste off and gets heavy on my lungs . or is the temp control off on my device ?
I went through a few coils now testing it out but keep getting the same result . After a few days it start to get a bitter burny taste and gets heavy on my lungs .
Even when i use my device on the recommended wattage the same happens as i notice that it creeps up to 0.78 ohm . even on lower wattage . And i dont seem to get the taste out of it that should be .
i Havent played around with the voltage yet , should i do that ? some help would be appreaciated.

Edit - I just replaced the coil , used the same juice that was already in it . now i found out that it seems to affect the juice . i use 50/50 .
maybe its the juice im using , maybe i should use different / better juice . so now i dont know if its actually the juice or the coil .
kinda lost now lol . but still the flavour i manage to get is only subtle .

Stock coil manufactures tell lies about what watts their coils can handle, it also come down to type of juice (sweet) and vg/pg ratio.
Make sure you prime the coil properly, start a lower wattage say 12 watts slowly increasing, once you are confident the coil can handle it.......don't be surprised if you find 15 watts is the max.
Yes the ohms will jump, this is normal, you are putting heat through a coil.

Hi @FranckyD and welcome to the planet.

even though your mod can do TC the nautilus coils 1.8 and 0.7ohm are for wattage mode only.
as said the coil reading will fluctuate and is nothing to worry about.
priming the coil first is a must. drip juice on all the cotton around the coil and a few drops down the top. put in and start at a much lower wattage than you normally vape at. then turn up a watt every few puffs. this will prolong the life of the coils. 70vg juice should be the max used with the 0.7 or 50/50 with the 1.8.

getting a burnt taste is the first sign of the coil burning out. sadly there are bad coils and it can happen to any make. there are also a lot of fakes out there. where do you normally buy from? and also what juice are you using and if adding a nic shot what ratio is it, 50/50, 70vg, 100vg

for cheap coils this is worth a look https://www.wholesalecoils.co.uk/

I have been using aspire 0.7 hm bvc coils , seems i prefer them 1.8 ones .
can if affect the juice too ? as i reused the juice that was in the tank and same result . tasted off straight away
so its ok for a 0.7 ohm coil to jump to 0.78 ohm then ? or does it burn the wick ?
will take the advice and gradually up the wattage as adived with my new coil.
what about taste wise ? the taste that i get from the juice is only subbtle , also tried 70/30 juice but was menthol , menthol over powers everything anyway.

I have been buying my stuff online at www.gosmokefree.co.uk . i have been using the oh my 50/50 juice .
i also used the 70/30 juice with 2 18ml nicotine shots . but its menthol and menthol over powers everything anyway .
i only notice problems with the 50/50 juice , cant tell with the menthol one as its strong and over powers everything.
i havent been priming to coils though , but when using new ones i always let it rest for about 20 minutes .
maybe i should prime it indeed . Hope this will intensify the taste too as i only manage to get subtle taste out of it .
and i dont know if the quality of them oils are good as ima new starter. Thanks for your help , much appreciated.

Just used a new coil and primed it started at a lower wattage , im at 16 watt now and it vapes well but doesnt taste great.
im starting to think that the juice im using is probably the issue here .
new coil , primed and rested with a new tank of fresh oil and it doesnt taste great.
i bought a selection of OMG oh my god juices with different tastes to try out.
probably aint a good brand . Still figuring out want brands of juice are good and of good quality.
Thanks for all your help guys.

Its ok for the ohms to jump, this will have no effect on your juice
Priming your coil well is key here. Keep the watts well below the minimum recommendation the 1.8ohm coils are best for 50/50.
Taste wise, if you do all that's been recommended, you should notice a difference.

Thanks guys .
Just put a new coil in , primed it . what i also did was put my device on voltage instead of watts .
the ohm jumps up now to just over 1.0 but it keeps the watts well below the minimum the coils says .
normally minimum 18 watt and now its on 13.5 watt on the voltage setting
The vape tastes loads better and is loads smoother .
My tank seems to warm up more but big improvement flavour and vape wise.
When i keep my device on watts it strangely really affect the taste . been throwing coils away for nothing it seems but thats part of it i guess.
Thanks for all your help and pointing me in the right direction , im glad i found this forum.
Talk to you soon :)

go smoke free are a recommended supplier so your safe there for coils.

not heard of OMG so cant help there.
have a look at drip drop 10ml £2 or 100ml £10
Prime vapes do some great flavours but not 10ml bottles
also cotswold vapour do some great fruit or minty flavours which are not overpowering.

als find a few more here POTV Vendors & Recommended E Liquid Suppliers

edit

thats strange. dont think ive ever used voltage mode and always stuck to wattage. no idea why it would give better flavour.
