What's new

Can someone recommend a good charger for 21700 cells please?

You won't regret buying an xtar I have the xtar vc4 had it well over 4 years & it's the 2 outer slots for charging the 21700.
Legend, thank you.
Is there any need for me to try other battery brands or should I stick with Molicell? I quite like the look of Hohm batteries but I'm not sure whether they're the same batteries in flashy wraps or if there is any advantage to them.

You can re-wrap batteries. Lots of different wraps available. Personally I stick with Molicel.

Okay, brilliant. Thank you.
Would I need to remove the old wrap or do I put the new wrap over the top of the grey one that's on it?

As always, it depends. Sometimes you can fit a second wrap, but it might make the battery too big to fit in a mod. I always remove the existing wrap myself.

I'll follow your lead then, you haven't steered me wrong. I appreciate your patience :hugs:

Thank you all, I'm going to buy one of the Xtar models. I originally looked at a Nitecore charger as I knew of the brand already but a lot of their chargers don't charge 21700s but they do charge larger and smaller cells. Does anyone know why this is? Its more curiosity than anything else, just seems a bit odd for their chargers to be able to charge larger cells and smaller cells but not this size.
The numbers for cells 18650, 21700 etc. Relate to the size.
The first two digits is the diameter, the second two digits is the height. And the 0 on the end indicates cylindrical.

So a 21700 cell breaks down as
21mm diameter, 70mm height, cylindrical.

Some chargers fit 65mm height max.
some a 21700 will fit but they are not listed. So if any of the listed cells are 21 or more diameter and any 70 or more height then the 21700 should b fine.

I have a nitecore new i2 and it fits 21700 though there is no display on it just 4 leds to indicate status.
Also a golisi s2 wich is the 2 bay version of the one Tazz posted above, I use this one mostly as it has display to show charge %, voltage, mahs charged, time taken etc.

If you only use single battery mods then a 2 bay will suit.
If using dual battery mods then get 4 bay

Legend, thank you.

personally ive never heard of those batts, but sticking with molicell you cant go wrong in my opinion they are tried & tested.

I re-wrapped some batteries last night with posh wrap from Fogstar (I also ordered some Star Wars themed wraps from ODB but they havent come yet). It was going so well until I got to the positive end, my fingers were burning so I released the tension and the insulator flew off. I found it and finished that battery so started a new one and exactly the same thing happened, this time the insulator disappeared into the ether, never to be seen again. I was really stressing out after tearing my frontroom apart for a second time, thinking I was going to have to leave an unwrapped cell some where safe but I then discovered the adhesive insulators in the wrap packet, I really wish I'd looked through the entire packet before I started :17:

When grading batteries, is it safe to leave them on over night? I started doing one of my 21700s today and after 14 hours it hadn't finished!

Iv had this Golisi S4 for a while. Charges all my vape mod batteries and even my AA detector batteries.
