Hi everyone

Im completely new here and have signed up as im basically desperate now, hoping someone can help. I started vaping about 3 weeks ago after a lifetime of smoking, initially ive been put off by vaping as it was a whole new world of confusion and expense but went for it finally.

I started on a Voopoo drag X with 70/30 liquid but found after a while my chest was getting tight. I tried basically every coil and every combo of wattages to no avail. I then changed to an 80/20 still the same, 90/10 diy with very little flavour still the same and then 100% VG with 6mg vg nicshot and zero flavour. Spent the next day in hospital hooked up to a ECG unable to breath.

I then bought a new mod, the Vaporesso Swag px 80, tried 60/40 and 50/50 but still my lungs are unbearable. I now just sit and sadly look at my vapes and about 400ml of un smokable eliquid from across the room while rolling cigarettes again :(

Am i just one of those people who cant vape or am i doing something wrong? Any thoughts?

thanks for reading my essay haha

Hi @Cobra and welcome to the planet.

soz to hear of your issues. youve come to the right place for advice.

a bit more info needed.
what juice have you been using. attach a picture of all the bottles if easier than listing.
also what sorts of wattage have you been using. was your kit set to wattage/power mode or did your screen show a number in centigrade or fahrenheit which would be TC temp control mode. if so it needs changing back to wattage as TC should onlu use coils made of nickel, titanium or stainless steel.

as you have just changed from smoking for years it sounds like you really need an equivalent and direct to lung sub ohming is not it.

i think your best step is to try a mouth to lung kit which uses much lower wattage with higher ohm coils like 1.8ohm, 1.6ohm,1.2ohm. MTL is similar to smoking where you inhale into mouth and then take down to lungs instead of sub ohm where you inhale directly to your lungs. this style is best vaped with 50vg/50pg juice as 70vg is too thick and can clog the coils up real quick.
after 37 years of smoking i started with a 1.8ohm coil at 10-14watts using 1.8mg of nicotine and i gave up overnight.

there are some people that dont get on with PG and can get similar chest issues like you mention but if youve tried upping the VG and still have these issues it sounds like sub ohm is not for you at this time and you need mouth to lung.

looking at the px80 that is another subohm kit with low ohm coils (0.2 45-60watt) (0.3 32-45w)

hopefully someone else will be along to advise if there are any DTL coils for these kits.

I agree bud. Sounds like mtl is a better choice (as we know it usually is directly from smoking).
I struggle with vg, claggy mouth and right chest.
You can buy mtl pods and coils for the vaporesso. Probably a good way of the original poster trying mtl.
As you say, Some idea of flavour profiles will help us find a few liquids higher in pg.

@MrDJ @eyeball kid Hi guys thanks so much for your replies. I have been back to the vape shop and followed your advice, I am now trying 5050 vape juice (Riot salt Sub lime 20mg) which was recommended as a good quality liquid, with a 2 ml MTL tank on my Voopoo Drag X running a 1.4ohm coil at 10 watts. The vape is a tad harsh but that may be the flavour, not sure yet.
Will give a day or two and see how i get on :)

i could never get on with salts as i chain vape continuosly. salts are meant to be much smoother on the throat than freebase nicotine so shouldnt be harsh.
did you prime the coil by dripping juice on the cotton then letting it sit for 10 minutes once youve filled the tank/pod up. also starting at a lower wattage is a good idea so if you intend to vape at 10watts then start on 5watts and turn up a watt after every couple of puffs so as to give time for the cotton to get soaked.
let us know if the harsh settles down.
also if at any time you feel light headed or sick then thats nic od. nothing to worry about but best stop vaping for 30 mins to an hour. its just your body telling you your getting too much nic.

I smoked very heavily for over 40 years, over 60 Roll-Ups a day and it was Nic Salts that helped me quit but once had the Nicotine Overload that @MrDJ Mentions. I did drop to 12mg Nic till a couple of days ago when i dropped to 6mg for DTL and still 12mg for MTL. We all react to vaping differently but also suggest that MTL might be your best bet moving Forward. Welcome to POTV btw.

Higher pg levels will give more of a "throat hit" but it's also essential to get your nic level right. Salts often come in 20mg by default but you may need much lower for a balance of nic satisfaction and smoothness.

Hi, yes I let the coil soak and primed it before fitting, it was the lemon flavour that was harsh. Im now vaping a different flavour and at only 10mg of nic rather than 20. Also i am vaping it at 7 watts. Seems to be doing the trick so far but time will tell as when I lay in bed is when I really feel if my lungs are suffering. Will keep you posted

Thanks for that, yes im trying 10mg for now and hopefully that will satisfy, ive got a 20mg too that i can retry but figure vaping less with higher nic is better for my lungs than continuously vaping sub ohm with low nic. We shall see
