Can't get an AV Able apart due to too much corrosion built up on threads, how to get it apart?

Hello everyone, as you know I was away from the forum for a few years and my Mod collection sat unused, which means my mechs have taken a right beating when it comes to oxidisation and grime buildup.

I have an Avid Lyfe AV Able that is copper but finished in black, and it has corroded very badly.

I have managed to get the button assembly partially apart, I have removed the bottom magnet section which also pulled out the middle magnet, but am now stuck at the point of the button that holds the sleeve in place to the tube of the mod.

I have tried soaking the mod, using rubber gloves for extra grip, and nothing will give me the grip I need to be able to unscrew the bottom part from the tube.

I really want to clean it up properly and get it firing away like new again, but with something this gunked up how on earth do I get it apart? Will tapping it with something like a hammer dislodge some grime so I might possibly be able to unscrew it?

I will include a photo to show how bad the grime is, just look on top of the fire button at the dirt- it needs a proper clean which is what I want to do, but I can't even get the bloody thing apart.

Any tips or help getting this apart will be much appreciated, as I have an RDA I would like to pair with the AV Able once it is clean.

Thanks, Conan.

or heavy duty degreaser or try and heat it with a hair dryer or low setting heat gun, need to be careful though

I am just letting the WD40 soak in at the minute, then will try that.

If that doesn't work I don't have a heatgun but do have a hairdryer, what do I do point it at the mod, heat it up then try to unscrew it while it is hot?

And what is a heavy duty degreaser I could get in there that is thin enough to work its way into the threading?

Aye heat and turn,

Soft jaw mole grips.

I used to use Servisol switch cleaner on my mechs for lubrication.

I might have to try this as soaking it with WD40 has not loosened it at all.

Do you add that after a polish to keep it looking new, or for literal lubrication of moving parts like the fire button?
