Cigarettes Price Increase

Which means that when all these smokers switch to vaping and they lose out on the tax they'll start looking at taxation of eliquids.

That is a very good possibility.
But they will be hard pushed to make up that sort of tax loss from just eliquids. They would need to hit "everyone" hard, income tax, NI, vat etc.

The figures they always quote, are from the sales of fags, cigars and baccy. They do not include the vat etc. on matches, lighters ashtrays etc etc.

Then they harp on about all the cash the NHS is saving from not having so many poorly smokers. Wrong again, we have all lived to be old and frail, because we have not died from a smoking related illness. So the burden has shifted to all the old age related problems. Add to that all the extra pension that needs to be paid out. All the extra social care for the elderly, that needs paying for.
You could go on with a lot more.

It's more likely, that in the end, they will take all of what you earn, and give you back what they don't want. (if there's anything left)

I stopped cigs when they were £6 a pack, but moved onto tobacco from then on.
Always brough back 500g of tobacco for €45 (approx £35-£40 at the time) from tenerife and it last me nearly a whole year.
Quite enjoyed the roll-ups.
Oh well, long gone are the smoking days. They cant tax vaping, and they cant make any changes to the tpd untill we have left the eu, so were fucked for few years in regards to that.

"The price of cigarettes and cigars goes up every year by two percentage points above the rate of inflation. On rolling tobacco it's an extra one percentage point on top of that.

Currently inflation in the UK stands at 2.9% - so the total increase will be 4.9% on a cigarettes and 5.9% on tobacco.

The average price of a pack of 20 cigarettes was £9.91 after the last budget.

Increasing that by a further 4.9% adds 49p to a pack - putting the average price of a pack of 20 up to £10.40.

For a 20 a day smoker, that adds up to an extra £178.85 a year."

This is quite ironic. Pushing the line that smoking kills and punishing tobacco companies, yet allowing motor vehicles to continuously spew out the exact same carcinogenics as cigarettes.

I was paying over £10 a couple of months ago for Marlboro Green, they’re probably near £11 now. Vaping has cost much more lol ... but hopefully will start saving soon
