I'm not talking about battery safety or any of that I/VR stuff.
I'm talking about making coils!
I can make a presentable coil. It looks like a dogs breakfast by the time I've centred it, but it kinda works.
Today I tried claptons.
And I used ribbon wire. But being not entirely dim (I do have a couple of degrees etc) I used the biro trick I've seen on YouTube.
And all was going lovely. The first inch or so was spot on. Then all hell broke loose when it kinked caught and tried to flick my eye out while it also tried to remove a finger. Never one to let a little peril get in the way of a good idea I figured maybe a round wire wrap might be more wise.
Half an inch in and the loose end of the core wire decides it was going to have an epileptic fit and tried to slice my carotid.
1 more go. And that's 10 metres of wire doing a very passable impression of a birds nest and my cordless looking very cosy in its new kanthal jacket.
In light of this I will be posting a new thread for a coil maker to fashion me a couple of cloud buster type coils, a nice Clapton or two and something a bit exotic. For less than the price of a small shed in South Kensington.
I may be less likely to develop respiratory ailments due to vaping, but I can see scarring and catastrophic haemorrhage as a very real possibility!!!
