What's new

Confused, and shouldn't be

Thanks drnick
I was entering 7.2 and 0.3% in steam engine but 72 and 3mg in POTV calc.

Previous quote "The reason One calc says good and the other not is because one has option to select pg/vg for nic and the other just doesn't care
I would use the steam coil one as you can set the base as vg or pg."

Think the confusion in results came from me presuming that the top slider on POTV calc was for the vg/pg mix of nic.
As I said, I will indeed now stick to steam engine but still curious what that top slider is for
Thanks again mate.
Mark.

The top slider is for the Nicotine Base,

Nicotine base can come in many different varieties some people get 100%vg Nic some get 100% pg Nic, some even get a 50/50 or 60/40 premix which is PG/VG/Nic all mixed together you just add flavours.

For the most part you would use either 100% PG or VG depending on your Nic base.

Previous quote "At the risk of being cheeky, could you check steam engine for me if I wanted 75/25 vg/pg and 25% flavour, still at 3mg nic on a 10ml sample. "

This is where you would need VG Nic Base. The reason One calc says good and the other not is because one has option to select pg/vg for nic and the other just doesn't care

100% VG Nicotine still wouldn't make it feasible at 75% VG and 25% flavorings.

10ml of 3mg juice (using 72mg PG base) 20% concentrate and a 50/50 target is -

Nic base - 0.42
Concentrate - 2.0ml
PG - 2.58ml
VG - 5.0ml

"Rounding" makes it easier ie 0.4ml nic base and 2.6ml PG. Even easier "rounding" would be 0.5ml nic base, 2.5ml PG (which gives a nic strength of 3.5mg, nowt to fuss over)

Thanks again guys.
I know I shouldn't be, but I'm still curious why the 2 screenshots are showing different results as I've plugged the same figures into both

One is PG/VG and the other is VG/PG.

Oh FFS
It was always going to be something so godam stupid that was doing my head in
I just presumed that it was some sort of unwritten rule or convention that always stated the VG figure 1st.
Right, now off to make my 1st 3 juices again with the correct ratio
Thankfully I started out at 50/50
Thanks again knome

?????
0.4ml Nic
7.1ml VG
2.5 ml Flavour (PG)

looks feasible to me :) (OK so I rounded to the nearest 10th but I don't think 1/1000th of a bottle additional pg and 1/500th of a bottle less Nic will hurt)

If you're rounding it down then yeah, I guess such a small number wouldn't really matter. no PG supporting the PG flavorings though.. You'll probably find you'll end up making the flavorings even stronger to make up for the loss of the PG, which would be impossible.

Indeed :) That is why I make at 60VG 40PG. I think if you want VG Heavy you really need to find recipes suited to a High VG mix. Although you can't go wrong with a 100%VG Menthol :) A friend of mine has some nasty PG Intolerance so that is all he uses.
