Coronavirus UK Daily Statistics

I will ring them up on Monday and cancel, like you say it's not worth the risk. Being at home is the only place I feel safe.

I better not get tested cos i will h
@ForestMagpie your spot on with your assessment of some people, they think they are immune to this virus, I will be honest, I have just come out of hospital with heart failure and pneumonia plus I have copd and I am honestly shit scared of this virus. I am due for a MRI next Wednesday and I am thinking of cancelling it because of the virus. I mean there are loads of people and patients in a hospital and anyone you pass by could have it, it's really made me paranoid. I don't know how you other guys feel but this is some scary shit going on.

I think the hospital will cancel it themselves.
I had an appointment for a bone dencity xray in April which was canceled due to Corona.

@Social Misfit my Doctors surgery has been cancelling appointments but not sure that the hospital will, they already rang me today to make sure my appointment hadn't been cancelled and to arrange my transport to hospital. Seems that the Hospital Doctor deems this MRI as urgent. I will see what I feel like after Monday.

I was just looking at some of the links with statistics. One thing that jumped out at me is that in the UK, the figure for deaths is significantly higher than the recovered. Obviously I know a lot have stayed at home and recovered without being tested, but I looked at a lot of other countries and the figures of recovered are higher than deaths in most cases. I am probably being thick and missing something here?

Anyway, stay safe everyone, I wish you all well.

Do not cancel - call and speak to the consultant’s secretary. Ask them what would be best. They will be reviewing MRI tests at the moment. Some will be cancelled, some will be imperative. A number of cardiology departments are looking to relocate their MRI equipment to ensure patients do not come into contact with COVID patients.

It’s vital you don’t cancel without communicating with your consultant.

@Mawsley I am honestly up in the air about the appointment but thanks for your input. I for one am scared of this virus and coming into touch with people who quite honestly must have a death wish, they show little regard for other people which in it's self is scary. I am one of the people who respects the idea of social distancing and being agoraphobic means I usually don't mix with people a great deal. I will wait and see what happens, I know I need to have this scan but would much prefer to have it when the virus has some kind of cure or at least know I am going to be safe.

You aren't alone. My wife runs (along with other stuff) the cardiology unit at our General, and your view is commonplace at the moment. The opinion I posted wasn't mine, but her's as I read your post to her.

The unit will have gone out of its way to take into account the need to distance you from others and reduce your risk as much as possible. All non-urgent MRIs have or are being cancelled, so if they still want you to come in then its reasonable to assume they think you need it. We've had a number of deaths recently due to cardiac patients not wanting to go to hospital.

Ultimately, you will make your own choice based on what you feel is best - I was just pumping this out there for consideration :)
