Much less. We have approximately 4 x the Netherlands population, yet over 6 x the number of cases, and over 7 x the number of deaths.

I was commenting after Crew posted a link to this... maybe I'm not understanding what this means? ]

Excess deaths, to my understanding, are the difference between the deaths in a given period, compared to an average of the same period in the previous 5 years. So for example, between 2014-19, the average number of deaths for March might have been 100, whereas the number this year was 156. The percentage is the difference. It gives a good idea of how many more people are dying than ‘normal’.

lol, this is why I don't bother.... I just keep on eye on what's going on locally. I struggle to get my head around any of it.... and the fact we are talking about deaths makes me feel really morbid too.. I ain't that goth.

Exactly - I suspect it's obfuscatory bollocks to cover up the fact that, somehow, they were out by 30,000 odd positive cases.

Totals are not totals, figures are not too high or too low, the totals are what we tell you. You aren't allowed to do maths to prove us wrong, how could you know maths when our education system is fucked. Shhh don't mentioned cases or deaths, unless they are low. Stop questioning us, ah we have a get out, UK totals are not UK totals and maths is not maths unless we say so. Just be happy,l, we are opening pubs FFS what more do you want???
