Much less. We have approximately 4 x the Netherlands population, yet over 6 x the number of cases, and over 7 x the number of deaths.I was commenting after Crew posted a link to this... maybe I'm not understanding what this means? ]
Excess deaths, to my understanding, are the difference between the deaths in a given period, compared to an average of the same period in the previous 5 years. So for example, between 2014-19, the average number of deaths for March might have been 100, whereas the number this year was 156. The percentage is the difference. It gives a good idea of how many more people are dying than ‘normal’.
