Could They Legally Do This?

Someone just posted this on our facebook page....my question is, could they do this with regards the actual e-cigs?

I looked into this in more detail last night, the impact of this in 3 years has the potential to be far worse than it appears on the surface, if the MHRA their way with regulations ALL but a handful of current ecig vendors will be put out of business, MHRA rep has already stated that NONE of the current available ecigs are of good enough quality and should be banned, no ego kits, no cartos, no vivi Novas, etc etc, no huge choice of eliquid, the tobacco companies are already preparing to take over the ecig market as are the pharma companies. Of course the standards of which he speaks are not yet set but this is blatant scare mongering and utter rubbish, 1.3 million ecig users in the uk have had huge success with current products

Err ... yes .. are you only just catching on to the enormity of it ?

I did wonder about your post saying it was a good thing yesterday!

My understanding of it is that it is focusing on the cigarettalikes, you can't ban electrical items which may or may not be used for vaping - it would be like trying to ban batteries.

Likewise, how can you ban stainless receptacles which may or may not be used to hold juice? You can't.

The only things they can focus on are prefilleds and possibly premixed juice. Of that, only the latter pertains to us and I can think of a number of ways around it.

I really don't think there is cause for panic, although a spirited and coordinated opposition would ensure we retain rights to vape what we please.

As Above, I believe that only items that contain nicotine (such as the prefilled e-cigs or E-liquid) will come under this. It's the same with cannabis, you can still buy bongs and pipes etc. from shops, it's just illegal to buy the cannabis to put in them. I guess the big companies think that they will make medical licensed prefilled e-cigs (like nicolites) and corner the market, after all, 1.3 million vapers is a hell of a market to make profit from and the thousands of pounds getting the license is nothing to them. However, where there is a will there is always a way round things, just look at Starbucks and Google etc!!!

My understanding is it will affect cigalikes heavily but for people like us using tanks, carto's and the like it will affect our liquid, mainly the nic part. They can't stop people buying a Vamo, vivi nova or dripper but they can stop people buying nic base or liquid with nic in it.
If there's even a sniff of banning batteries and battery mods then someone just needs to make a 510 torch add-on and problem solved :)

I like the idea of a torch mod I will knock one up tomorrow. It only need an LED and a 330ohm resistor and it's job done

I think you may have a cunning plan...
Off to the drawing board methinks
