Councils call for disposable ban.

saw this on the bbc app to be fair the article was well written and balanced on the BBC one done by a business reporter, it didn't have the normal "my son sold his left leg for vapes" or death, death and more death.

but the cats is out of the bag they are here, its bugger all to do with smoking cessation it's to do with money. they are everywhere the new emails I'm getting from china is 10k units printed in my company colours and motif less than a pound tpd ish compliant delivered from China to warehouse.......... 7 days.

france says a ban end of 2023 in most EU states by 2026 I think they will be banned, will it reduce the disposable vape im not sure China will push back and just change one thing that's a removable battery just pop it out and install a new button cell.

i could be wrong this is a fast-moving thing but if a ban is recommended by the government expo will be interesting in October

in regards to stopping them from coming into the uk that's a laugh we struggle to stop loads of stuff coming into the UK

A no win situation at the moment. I think disposables are going to have to change somehow to survive.

A lot of adults will go back to smoking or maybe start smoking. in my experience more people vape disposables in smoking areas than actually smoke.

The councils have said they are not anti-vape in general - it does seem to be aimed at disposables rather than the entire industry, which is at least a partial positive.

Interesting that ASH are pointing out that a ban would "increase the risk that children would be able to buy them" -
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-66204853
The anti-smoking charity ASH said it did not support a ban, as it would "turbo-charge" illegal sales, increasing the risk that children would be able to buy them. It favours higher taxes on disposables and stronger controls on import and sales, deputy chief executive Hazel Cheeseman said.
And bearing in mind that many of kids who vape are using illlegal disposables already...

It's looking more likely than not they will be banned which I think is a better solution than some of the proposed alternatives such as flavour bans and treating e-cigs like cigarettes.

I strongly suspect we're gonna end up being taxed out the wazoo to cover the cost of the cleanup.

+1 @John R. Tax was always going to be an eventual issue, Govt. never misses the opportunity to bend us over, and, when they get over the first hurdle of introducing a Tax, it will do nowt but escalate over time, in much the same way as fags do now
