Damascus steel

So if I were to make a mod (or someone was making it for me) and I wanted a Damascus steel face plate
Where would I get some the right thickness and only really enough for 1 or 2 faceplates don't want to spend a fortune
Found some on eBay but they are 4-5mm thick so too thick I reckon

Most of the Damascus steel made nowadays is for the blade making market.

As knife scales are usually 4-5mm thick, you may have to adjust your design to accommodate a faceplate.

Getting a scale re-annealed and made thinner would be expensive ....

It's not me making it, I am getting one commissioned to celebrate my upcoming 3yrs of the stinky sticks - but I asked him if I could get some Damascus would he do a faceplate but looks like I can't get any thin enough

I don't have the tools or skills to make one I'm afraid, wish I did
