What's new

Darkstar Bottleshots

Its roughly working out using 40% pg and 60% vg nic shots and topping up with 8ml of pg and 25ml of vg.
So that's 6.6 bottles of pg nic shots and 10 bottles of vg nic shots.
This is working it out using 20% flavour equally 50ml.
I did it using the www.vapinghardware.com/calculators/e-liquid-calculator
This will give you 250ml of juice at 12mg strength nic at 20% flavour at 50/50 pg/vg ratio.

Ok.... assuming the concentrate is @25% and pg .... I found it easier to match the nic shots 70/30 vg/pg (which can also be bought at darkstar) with the base 70/30vg/pg.
Final mix comes in at 52.53vg, which would be close enough for me.

Thanks for the replies and help all, glad I asked because I knew it sounded wooly. Think my best option will be to do it from scratch.

What threw me off was this line in their FAQ -

"When purchasing your Base Mix, keep in mind that the concentrate in the Bottle Shot is PG based. So, the ratio that you choose will become the next ratio down when everything is mixed.
For example, when using a High VG Base Mix with a Bottle Shot the final e-liquid will be a 70/30 ratio. For 70/30 Base Mix the final e-liquid will be around a 50/50 ratio, etc."

Which didn't seem like a lot of information, because I figured depending on the Nic shot used then you'll be diluting either the PG or VG value.
Easiest way is to buy some nic shots in pg and others in vg

To answer some questions/provide more info-

-Some of their listings say the concentrate/flavour is filled 25%, so, 62.5ml for a 250ml bottle?. 50ml for 20%?
-One of my other concerns was about using so much nicotine and killing the flavour, this is why I don't use shortfills, from what MrDJ says this might still be an issue?. Wouldn't this still be an issue even if mixing seperately though?, as the nicotine content doesn't change?
-Darkstar does supply different Nic ratios (100% VG, 70/30, 50/50, 100% PG)

Again big thanks for your help, I'm going to look into using PG and VG separately now and different suppliers. Since I'm a noob at this I thought I'd try and take the easiest road.
You will be able to mix 12mg strength using 18mg strength nic shots but to get it at that level you will need a combination of pg nic and vg nic. The flavour will be strong enough as you will still be mixing at a 10-15 or even 20% flavour ratio.

My one above uses the 70/30 nic shots and comes out at 50/50 but that's assuming it's 20% flavour.

If Darkstar juice is 25% then your calculation is the best he'll get and 2.53 extra vg is pretty unnoticeable anyway. You've cracked it mate.

You can get a 54/46 mix ( my head hurts ) using 50/50 nic shots if there is such a thing.
this is 20% mix

edit - dont buy any pg. put 33.35mil vg , it will end up at 53.33 / 46.7 ( ish )

lol I really wasn't expecting to cause such a discussion, I'm glad I'm not the only one that bent my brain. I did watch some Youtube and did some browsing but there isn't much help on 50/50 mix or higher nic content.

I think I like @Rickster explanation (and @Gitchy ?). Sounds like if I match the 70/30 NIC with the 70/30 base I should get a 50/50ish mix @ 25% (a few % isn;t gonna be noticed). I think that;ll work for a 20% concentrate n all ?

What's the calculator @Rickster uses?, looks like I can play with numbers in that.

@iqon explanation is pretty simple n all.

Again, cheers everyone. Much appreciated.

Aye, cheers. That's kinda what I assumed when I started looking at the bottleshots and dismissed the shortfills.

This one.... you want the last one on the list for this particular equation, just change my earlier post/comment and make it 20% concentrate i.e 50ml https://ecigvape.com/#e-liquid-calculators

....which is also handy for shortfills.... example....

You'll need to mix the 70/30 shots with separate vg and pg to get 50/50 and not use the 70/30 base if you want a 50/50ish juice at 25% flavour mate. The base would probably give you too much pg.
