Disposable Vapes - The tide seems to be changing - Disposable Vape Ban ?

They might as well go the full hog and ban flavoured nicotine at the same time....nae point pissing about n doing it half arsed, that would put an end to it full stop.
A device any device is merely a vessel supplying the drug, flavour that drug with sweeties....well I think we all know this won't be allowed to continue indefinitely, and no as it's been shown the industry can't police and behave itself TPD is also largely ignored....borrowed time Im afraid.

“Doesnt wash at all” is of course an opinion not an absolute

What is an not an opinion but an absolute is the amount of waste on a weekly basis.

you get that the kids in a lot if cases are buying dodgy ones from a “scum bag dealer”?

I made my feelings clear ish on youth vaping above

“and while as I hear quoted often "Well they are going to try it anyway and I would rather they vaped than smoked" a phrase I do not personally entirely disagree with - I think i would rather if they are going to do it at all - and lets face it, kids experiment - I would rather they were round the back of the bike sheds with a proper compliant reusable POD system and a compliant bottle of eliquid, than a dodgy 10ml 50mg Back of the lorry unknown origin Disposable.”

a thoughtful post. a couple of thoughts/points of interest:

re: (anyone else think a Ban on all single use plastic disposable items would have more of an impact? thereby not targeting our industry directly and enormously cutting out plastic waste in one go?)

i think this is already the case in scotland. i’m not sure if disposables vapes have escaped it because they aren’t truly single use, like a plastic straw, fork etc (maybe disposable lighters get a pass on this basis?)

also the thing about disposables being used responsibly, that will never happen,

because

While we are on this subject and not entirely unrelated, I watched this the other night. It's worth a watch when people have an hour spare.

A word of warning though... it will make you angry, parts of it will make you very sad.

You sound like you're under the impression I'm in favour of keeping disposables in their current form. I'm not.

Which also makes your point about waste obsolete.

And yes, I agree with you. These illegal vapes are leaching metals into the juice, often they illegally contain ridiculous levels of nicotine and they're all from unknown makers that no-one has ever heard of and are almost certainly completely untested to ensure they're safe so I don't want them getting into the hands of kids any more than you do.

My argument has never been about keeping disposables in their current form.

But the simplicity of vaping products has helped lure a lot of people away from smoking so it's important to think about that and cater for those people so you don't lose them back to cigarettes.

the way you go on about this anybody would think filling a pod with 2ml of liquid was some kind of technical and laborious task that’s beyond most of us. as said above, most people wipe their arse in the morning. many of them also drive a car and go in petrol stations to fill it up, they cook food to eat even if it’s just sticking something in a microwave or opening a packet of something. they tie shoelaces, masturbate, take the bins out, wash dishes, make love, go to the shop and carry home five bags of stuff, wash their clothes, stop on the way home from work to get a bottle of wine, light a fag with a lighter, go to a pub and order a drink at the bar, change their kids shitty nappie, spend an hour at the gym, walk up a flight of stairs, stop at the cash line and use their card to take money out, browse the internet, text their mates, make a roll up etc.

this idea that poor, over exerted people are so strapped for time that they can’t open a wee rubber stopper and pour some liquid into it is the biggest load of shit i think i have ever heard.

Surely this is what a simple POD system is though ? Like an oxva or caliburn ?

Then you should open your eyes a bit more and think about the reason disposables have exploded so much in popularity.

I've tried to get loads of people onto vaping and most of them went straight back to cigarettes because it was just too much effort maintaining them. And every one of them are now vaping disposables.

I don't know the oxva but the latest Caliburns appear to now have refillable pods which also means they will need to have replacement coils and well as being refilled regularly with juice.

Making them rechargable is fine but I would like people to also still be able to buy replacement pods that will all come with a new coil and be already full of juice like the Efra.

It would also be good if makers had to all make the pods interchangeable and make sure replacement pods could be bought wherever cigarettes are on sale.
