What's new

Disposable Vapes - The tide seems to be changing - Disposable Vape Ban ?

And you know that how? Because you've been vaping for years and you've built up enough knowledge to know that.

They haven't.

They might see this stuff on the shelf but they don't know what any of it is or how to use it.

If you don't know about it you can't do it.

But then someone you know turns up with a vape device where you don't have to do anything except puff away and even better they come in loads of lovely flavours and are healthier than cigarettes. So the word spreads and you don't need to know what the other stuff on the shelf is about.

Hmmmmm

When you are at your peak - you remind me of someone

Well I shall refrain from personal comments because I don't want this to get tetchy and I don't see how that is at all constructive or helpfull.

Hardly any of the people I know using disposables could name any well known brand of vape gear and they don't know what's out there.

They can buy disposables in virtually any shop that sells cigarettes. They are not going to spend time trawling vape web sites researching it all. All they want is something simple to use that they can find in any local shop.

I broadly agree with this, it will come down to how much the younger adults dont want to smoke, as to whether they buy fags and baccy under the counter (loads available round my way) or shell out 15 quid or more for 20. When I'm in the smoking area at spoons and say there are 15 people out there, I guarantee more than half whip out a D. Some will no doubt get a pod system or AIO, the others, including a lot of dual users, will probably go back on the fags full time and bang, there goes the harm reduction. Not been out much drinking recently but when I do I'll do a little survey (ask what folks will do when D's are banned) and report back.

A very interesting read. Both @ZT and @MarylinC37 make some very good points. Neither are wrong just coming at it from different points of view.
Disposables along with pods, mods, AIOs, RTAs, RDA's, open system pods and closed system pods are all part of the vaping scene and as such none of them should be banned.
It's all about choice and the freedom to choose which suits your personal preference.
Banning one over others will probably lead to a decreasing spiral.
A disposable that's regulated and compliant with the laws of the land should be available for those that want one.

Good posts guys.

I agree about the kids and wanting to keep them safe and schools can do a lot to try and help with that just like they do with drugs and other things.

However, it isn’t just about the kids.

I’m not arguing in favour of anything but I am just trying to get you all to understand an important point that I think people are just not understanding.

Disposables are like the Usain Bolt of the vaping world. (think 100m in 9.58 seconds).

They are to vaping what MacDonalds are to the restaurant trade. People not buying them simply as an easy first step to get away from smoking or as an easier device when they’re out and about.

Primarily they are buying them because they are simple and FAST . . . and they taste nice.

These are not lazy people. They have families and kids, they have jobs and they have much bigger priorities in their lives than messing around with vape kit.

I have seen time and again how I’ve set people up with something that, to me, seemed so easy to use and look after. And yet, as soon as the juice ran out or the coil got too burnt and started tasting like crap, just ended up being thrown in a drawer and they just go straight out and buy another packet of fags.

To me, banning disposables has both ups and downs. They have opened the door to possibly almost completely wiping out smoking all together. But then, as ZT said, they have also got a lot of new people vaping who had probably never smoked in their lives.

But then I have also known some who spend hundreds of £’s a week buying weed and over time destroying their mental health.

I know 7 different people...friends and family that just cant be asked to faff about with buying eliquid and coils etc and are far happier to use disposables and yes they are all adults.
I've tried several times to get them to make the switch to a pod or mod but they are just not interested. My brother-in-law who in is not stupid tried to fill the pod up thru the mouthpiece and when it pissed out all over the place he lost his temper and threw the lot away.

The "protect the children" gets on my nerves when I hear this. In my opinion it's just people using the latest buzz word and jumping on the band wagon.

If we was really worried about the children then why is there very little mention, if any about banning the following items :
Cigarettes
Alcohol
NOS
Drugs
Glue
Knives or any sharp impliments
Energy drinks
And anything else that can effect their natural wellbeing.

The government were worried about about the amount of sugar in fizzy drinks a few years ago, no talk of banning them. No they put a 20p tax on it, as if that's gonna make any difference.

Banning disposables will have several outcomes, black market, back to smoking, eventual ban on vaping or the next latest fad.

As I've said several times, I'm not pro disposables and I hate seeing these Mickey Mouse ones around and dont like the littering of them. But again, the litter is NOT the reason to put a ban on something otherwise we should be banning crisps and canned drinks and sweets in packets.

Well said. Excellent post.

Just like me. The people I know are all adults, all with busy lives and all but one of them are now vaping disposables. And the one who isn't . . . . is still smoking!

The litter thing is still an issue with me, particularly when it comes to all those single use lithium batteries and the utter waste of all those so I'll be glad to see the back of all that.

At the same time if people are really that keen on getting as many people as possible away from ciggies they need to understand the winning formula and why everyone jumped on disposables in the first place.

Thanks @MarylinC37, I thought I would chime in with my penny worth lol.
