Does nic improve flavour?

I started vaping to get off the ciggies and quickly lowered the nic content to the point I'm currently using zero nicotine shortfills.

I was wondering if adding nic shots actually adds to the flavour as I often read lads recommending adding the nic and leaving it to steep?

Some people think so, others not so bothered.

I think it does give a certain flavour and helps steep but if you're off the nic then why bother adding it? You could probably just steep your shortfill for longer and get similar results, apart from the faint nic taste.

Just my own opinion on it. Sure others will have other views.

It just occurred to me that most flavour mixers will assume nic is going to be added (i may be wrong there) so mix it with that in mind.

It does alter the flavour, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. It’s all very subjective though, if you’re off the nic, stick to liquids you like the taste of as is without adding the nicotine.

A lot of ELiquid makers, myself included, overflavour the Shortfills to compensate for adding a nicotine shot, so 50ml and 100ml Shortfills we overflavour by 20% so the liquid isn’t “watered down” when adding the shot. Not all do that though.

On the one hand adding nic will reduce the percentage of flavour, on the other if you dont need nic dont add it. I guess you could mix up 10ml of 70/30 and no flavours without nic and another with nic added and see if there is any taste to it?

If you’re finding flavour too strong, can always just add 10ml (To 50s) or 20ml (to 100s) of PG or VG. Can get a litre for a few quid from alot of places.

Actually I’m sure I mentioned somewhere here, that I ended up accidentally vaping zero nic juice, for some time. I didn’t notice any difference. Though as I use ‘cough’ mg nic. I had topped off the bottle with the required base mix.
