Newbie to dripping and was just wondering how long coils last before needing to replace and why people mention not to use a fresh battery

How long your coil lasts will depend on how much you use it and how often you change juices in it etc. I can use the same coil constantly with the same juice in it for about a week before I change it. To be honest, it could probably last longer than that.
Also a freshly charged battery is more likely to pop your coil. It's best to leave it at least a couple of hours.

My atomic has had the same coil in it for about three weeks - works just as well today as when I first fired it up and will for the same time again (if not more). Cheap juices will gunk up when heated and need changing regularly but that's the only real problem coils can face beyond hot legs.

Kanthal is metal and silica is glass - they both last ages if treated right. If you use cotton then you can wrap a microcoil and just pull out and replace the cotton every now and then and not change the coil.

The battery thing... If you're using a mech then the full power of the battery passes through whatever atty you have attached. So a freshly charged batter will put more power through than a lesser charged one, it's a taste thing more than anything - high power will give a much hotter vape. That's not an issue with regulated devices however.

Been running the same coil in my igo for about a month now, swap out the cotton, clean up and dry burn, new cotton in and good to go!

Oh right just seems mines not as good as when first build and only a day and a bit old been putting a few different juices threw quite think ones.

As for battery So if left to stand for a few hours it's still got the same volts in it and using a mech Coil ran fine with full charge battery.

I whip out the cotton wick, dry burn the coil and replace it at least daily. But the coil lasts for weeks, or until I fancy trying a different build, which is always sooner. The last few coils I've replaced were all going strong.

I'm not really sure how long a coil would last if I just left it. I usually rebuild mine just for something to do.

Depends on the resistance you want. Have a search for microcoils on YouTube, will be much better than my typing ;)

Absolutely not the same as your OH uses... Often that'll have been bleached and you don't want to inhale chlorine vapour! Organic unbleached cotton ideally, or you can boil the cotton a few times to get out impurities. Again, YouTube is your friend for cotton wicks.
