ECig fire "reports"

Unfortunately, and i think a lot of us were the same, but smoking was seen as being rebellious against 'those annoying parents and teachers' so it had the 'cool kid' effect.
Fast forward to today, and it is this shisha pen shite that is catching on and therefore being rebellious albeit safer.
My daughter is 16 and she thinks it is cool and trendy, i told her not to bother as she would look like an arse, and on top of that she would be trying to teach her lungs to take in vapour.
She came back with ' you use shisha pens dad' to which i showed her the vamo, and then told her about the fact i use it as i don't want to kill myself smoking, and wanted to take her down the isle on her wedding day ( whenever that might be).
I hope she doesnt go down the route of trying to be a cool kid with a shisha pen ( i f@cking detest THAT name!!)
However, if she does, i have told her that she has to be 18 and if she buys one, i will find the seller and kneecap them, then proceed to ensure she has the best kit and uses it safely.
If i can't stop her then i am bloody sure she will get the best kit, and unfortunately her mother lets her get away with too much!

Sorry for the rant!! :(

It's a funny world.

They tell us not to buy a cheap extention socket. Because it might catch fire.

They tell us not to use a cheap electrician, because his work might be dangerous.

The inform us that buying a cheap motherboard might end up burning out.

Yet, ecigs are different
Because obviously cheap ecigs mist be perfectly fine and never have a single issue.

There's a reason I use high quality mods, Efest batteries and never leave them charging unattended.

working in a vape shop we have people come in who say "oooh I don't want to pay £12 for a battery when I can get a whole kit from a cheap shop for £10" - we guarantee our batteries for 45 days against defects etc but that doesn't make a difference once the people see the £ signs and want a bargain....on top of that the amount that come in saying their friend has one they bought for a market and were told it was fine to use a laptop charger or a mobile charger to charge them, the quibble over paying for a proper e-cig charger because they already have 20 other chargers at home that they think will do the job !! It really winds me up, they also leave them unattended or charging all night and then wonder why their house burns down and they don't even realise the same can happen with a mobile phone battery or a lap top battery - it drives me and my colleagues mad having to explain over and over - we have now taken the bull by the horns and have in our back room a blown battery and photos of the damage caused by charging with incorrect chargers - shock them into being sensible !

Rant to your hearts content - our shop ID anyone we even vaguely consider as being less than 18 and I have refused to sell to a lady who wanted one because her friends have e-cigs yet she was a non smoker...some of us do have morals before profits luckily - however there are many who don't......one good one this week was a lad who walked into our shop with a broken one bought elsewhere, we ID'd him and he was 16, we refused to serve and I casually asked him where he got it from which he answered....well he wasn't to know that the person next to him in the shop (a regular customer) was actually a police officer.....I think one local cowboy trader may be getting a visit :)

Cheers!

Its not actually illegal to sell to under 18's. Its just something that responsible vendors have adopted

its morally correct at the end of the day not to sell to children...and to refuse to sell to non smokers whose only reason for vaping is for "a fashion accessory"

That is true, but it is not a law and not everyone operate on the same level of intelligence or standard of morals ;)

sorry ?? I am NOT a vendor I happen to be an employee...does this somehow infringe my rights to free speech...I don't think I mentioned or named in my post who I work for so unsure as a newbie on here which rule I have contravened ?

sorry ?? I am NOT a vendor I happen to be an employee...does this somehow infringe my rights to free speech or stating that people who buy cheap batteries are people with a death wish ? ...I don't think I mentioned or named in my post who I work for so unsure as a newbie on here which rule I have contravened ? Have looked at the vendor section and can see nothing about which rule I have broken can you please narrow it down for me as I genuinely do not know which bit of my post was incorrect, I am not selling anything nor intend to do so...I am not buying anything nor intending to do so I was joining in with a conversation and reiterating points already said by others - apologies if this has caused an issue
