The justification for taxing tobacco is that smoking is inherently bad for your health and costs the taxpayer in NHS bills. A so called 'sin tax'.
There can be no similar justification to tax ecigs or tax them to the same degree. It would in my view be more difficult for the UK govt (unshackled from the EU) to slap on a heavy tax given the Public Health England findings.
I completely agree. But what thee, me and the rest of the free thinking population deem to be sane and rational thinking isn't always undertaken by our beloved politicians.
I hope you're right though Mark, I really do. But I'm not holding my breath.
