EU wants to tax e-cigarettes

The justification for taxing tobacco is that smoking is inherently bad for your health and costs the taxpayer in NHS bills. A so called 'sin tax'.
There can be no similar justification to tax ecigs or tax them to the same degree. It would in my view be more difficult for the UK govt (unshackled from the EU) to slap on a heavy tax given the Public Health England findings.

I completely agree. But what thee, me and the rest of the free thinking population deem to be sane and rational thinking isn't always undertaken by our beloved politicians.

I hope you're right though Mark, I really do. But I'm not holding my breath.

The black market is already their it's called making your own for a lot less than vendors chargeand is what we should do to save spending more than we would have done on ciggies per week

People like vaping. Of course they're going to tax the shit out of it!

This might be controversial but I wouldn't object to "sensible" taxation, as long as it counteracts some of the rumoured TPD proposals. It might also drive down the amount of substandard eliquid producers out there.

Sadly, it won't happen sensibly but we can all dream.

The Westminster Party will tax it to the max if they get the chance. Maybe the EU can reign them in.
