What's new

First mech mod

i based this all on my experience, personally mechs are NOT for inexperienced vapers. Its all fine talking about CDR but a mech user won't be continuously discharging his battery for 10 secs, unless he is a competition enthusiast, and why anyone would vape at .8 on a mech is something i fail to understand, at this resistance there is no thermal capacity, especially on single battery mods, there's no heat, no flavour, no cloud, which is why i said they work best at 0.1 - 0.15 which is where the knowledge of pulse ratings comes in, this is where you will be playing. I have never met any experienced mech user who vapes at 0.8, single coil or otherwise, that is a case of using an improper device to perform that task, it could be classed as opinion, but i don't use regulated devices, i use mechs........it's a matter of experience

Have you heard of mech Squonkers and MTL RDAs?

Or 18mm and 22mm diameter mechs where people have been using MTL RTAs on them, for years?

Or people who like restricted lung hit vaping using small chambered RDAs on mechs, because they prefer flavour to clouds?

You aren't wrong about building low, if all you are interested in is fogging up the room with massive clouds and using cloud production as a means to produce flavour, but there are a lot of VERY experienced vapers out there who use mechs and build a lot higher and get excellent flavour. I was at a vape meet with some of them only last weekend.

It's funny. I was trying out a new vape shop that opened locally to where I work, last week. The guy in there was very friendly, and interested in my kit. He was running dual complex coils in his big airy atty, down at 0.15, and he asked to try my vape, which gives a restricted lung hit.

He took a long draw and blew out a large cloud and was very impressed with the flavour production from such a small RDA and you should have seen the look of surprise on his face when I told him it was a 0.52 ohm single coil build, using 24gauge Nichrome Flatwire. He couldn't believe you could get such a nice vape from such a "high" build, it ramped up much quicker than his build, instant flavour and decent clouds.

There's more to vaping on mechs than just 0.1 builds and massive clouds, as I said.

i'm not a cloud chaser buddy, i'm all about flavour, and a nice warm vape, standard build for me is either 22g 6 wrap or 20g 6 wraps, not saying i don't use flaptons and such (mostly on my series box) but on my mechs i prefer a nice basic dual coil build. MTL will give good flavour due to the small chambers but i'm not a MTL guy, i like nice 22mm RDA's, direct lung hits all day long, though i still don't get why anyone would run MTL on a mech, each to their own.

A few years back, there was only MTL on a mech, and it's still a popular form of vaping amongst the "connoisseurs". Not that I'm one of them!

little brass setup looks nice (right)
Not one of mine, unfortunately. Looking forward to seeing you posting some of your kit in the mech mods forum, or the what's in your hand thread, sounds like you have some nice mechs.

ive got a few, did have quite the collection at one point but sold a few, down to my Hellboy (well used and abused) My Nookie (old but gold) and my tesla invader 3 (multiple personality mod), just ordered a Batl Mstr from Tower Mods Ph but got the usual pre order wait to endure.....

Last of my collection, and to be honest, these stay because they outperformed everything i have had, Hellboy in Hybrid mode is mighty unstoppable, the SOI was excellent but didn't match it, The Nookie was hard to find and has been the only parallel i use, had an Osmium but the firing button was iffy, and the Tesla is just a safer option over the Noisy Cricket

Wow, such much more info to take in = mind blown and a hurting head lol. Just when I thought I was getting a very basic understanding of things.

Still fairly new to the whole vaping world, maybe I've jumped on the mech train to early. At the moment I just want to make sure I stay on the safe side of things, whilst enjoy a good flavoursome vape and learning more about what I can and can't do safely.

Time to read and research some more before picking the mech mod up again I think.

Do not let it put you off, the most important things are understanding ohms law, and battery safety, understanding what you will be drawing from your battery at certain ohms.......
