After constructing a very grude coil making jig (block of wood, with a 3mm drill bit drilled into it ), I've made my first own handmade coils with the Flatwire FlatSixy 22g wire that I have.

Using the SteamEngine Coil Wrapping calculator, I've built the coils with the following;

Dual coil setup
Nichrome N80, round
7 wraps
3mm inner diameter
Which equals: 0.17ohms at 3.7v

I figured these would be slightly safer than the 0.13ohm's that my Coilart mech mod came installed with. According to the SteamEngine Coil Wrapping calculator these would have been at 2.9v.

The above is correct, assuming I've used the calculator correctly lol.

To be honest, it's not to bad at all. Maybe slightly better flavour wise than the previous coils, but possibly slightly less cloud production. The flavour side of things isn't the primary driver though, this build is more about safety first and cloud production second with flavour coming third.

Not familiar with your Coilart. Does it come with its own RDA? I've fought with many an RDA with coil placement and wicking trying to maximise flavour, I guess it's just what we do, LOL.

I saw a mention of it being OK for flavour, but not world-beating, surprising given it's bottom air flow. Maybe time to pop another RDA on it just to try. Looks a nice enough mech though
