First SS Wick attempt

Congrats vapemonkey on getting a working genesis :) its a nice feeling.

And not to pick fault, especially if it works but was there a reason for picking those places for the negative and positive ends of the coil? I would possibly have used the hole in the bottom of the neg terminal or moved the whole thing round to the other side and started the bottom of the coil using the large screw. Also you are missing the top terminal nut which would have meant you could have spread the coil. Your arrangement looks to be strangling the coil.

All that said, if it ain't broke........break it?

Complete ignorance and losing the top nut as soon as I started playing is the short answer :)

Decided to wing it and hope for the best :D

Handy to know you can use the big screw for that though, so cheers :D

I think that raised post is supposed to be for silica wicks

Agreed, and nice of you to point it out to the OP just in case he didn't know. Sometimes people just assume that everyone is either a pro or a noob. May make for an even better vape next time. :) It is a combination of using the top of the neg post and also having to use the bottom of the centre post that looks to have pulled the wick tight and creased it.

Quick question..

Does it make a difference if the bottom of the coil is touching the bottom of the atomiser? Just can't see how you'd avoid it if you used the "flat" screw? Probably simple, but only if you know :D

Using the flat screw the coil has to touch the bottom of the atomiser and it's not a problem

Groovy... is that a rule of thumb that touching the bottom of the atomiser isn't an issue then, as that will make future attempts with silica less finicky as I've been trying to avoid it :D

I don't know if multiple bits of the coil touching the base would cause an issue, ie if the coil is laying on the base. But when you use the flat screw you are screwing onto the base which is why I'm sure one bit touching is ok

I deliberately keep the coil flat with the bottom bit to ensure no bottom hotspot
