Fogstar Charger Concept + What would you like to see?

£30 seems reasonable for a well made, reliable 4 bay charger that can charge 4 cells at 1 amp. I do like the screen design mock up too so I'd probably be in at that price. Would your design include a 3 pin plug or would it be like the xtar chargers where the just give you a lead? Bit poor from xtar in my opinion...I like stuff where I can take it out the box and everything that's needed is there and ready.

Annoys me too, especially when xtar is a Chinese company and let's be honest, they could source plug adapters for pence. Included wall adapters added (if it's USB)

Er, this is why I went for Xtar VP chargers, they come with everything you need to charge and big hefty adapters which take a fair amount of heat away from the charger box itself. All quality stuff and also come with 12V adapters.

I presume people realise power packs are usually filled with 18650s?

Personally, I dislike the sprung clamps, they're archaic and crude and we should be able to insert and remove batteries even with arthritis or half asleep or one handed.
Cooling fans are good I think, you wait if we ever get a hot summer we'll all be directing fans on our chargers. Better cooling materials.
I think 1A across four bays is enough, 2A for the impatient but at the risk of your batteries and heat generation so risk to the longevity of the charger.
All four bays should hold 26650 size, maybe a figure of eight terminal and bay so 18 series fit in their own groove without wobble.
Optional buzzer for fully charged maybe.

A well optioned and well built charger with a solid guarantee - I'd happily pay around £100. Maybe it could come with software for a desktop puter to check and analyze cells.
Charger that can safely carry out a discharge too.

I've got the MC3000 by SkyRC and the bluetooth is incredibly useful! Use it every time, that may be more so because the manual controls on the unit are useless but heh.
The one thing I wish this unit did that I've seen on others is the ability to charge over USB. When it's plugged in I can obviously use it to charge my phone etc.. But it would be nice if it could charge using the 18650's installed.
But adding features like this will likely up the price significantly.

£100 for a charger [emoji15]. I'm not poor by any means but that doesn't mean I'd waste money. Why pay 4/5 times the price of other chargers for one that does the same with added bells and whistles. I understand some people would like it, like yourself, and probably go and buy it but at that price 99% of the market would buy an alternative.

I like the usb cable for the xtar, least it wasn't a wall plug without a fuse, which is what I got from a very reputable vendor with a nitecore charger

wall plug preferred as long as its safe

no way would I pay a ton for a charger though, 75% of vapers wouldn't buy a mod costing that lol

Shame vapers are so stingy when it comes to accessories. Vapers will happily spend a hundred quid on a special atty or two hundred quid on a mod the novelty of which will wear off but look for cheapest juices, wicking, batteries etc.

Actually, a lot of petrolheads are like that too, spend a fortune on a car and then find the cheapest greasy rag dodgy mechanic to work on it and get it "washed" in iffy £10 drive in carwashes ...

Slow down mate, who's being stingy? I buy the best available cells for the purpose I need them and the best available gear I can afford for its use. But why would I pay £100 for charger to charge my cells to 4.2v when Xtar, Nitecore and Efest all sell very good, reputable 4 bay chargers for between £20-30? That would just be stupid.

It's not that really.

We all like something to show off, vaping and everything else. But Joe Public often can't afford to show everything off, so they buy big in some areas and save in others.
It would be nice if all of our funds were unlimited- but alas that's not the case.

And big price doesn't always equal the best quality- in anything [emoji6]

A £30 charger is unlikely to last for years but I would hope a quality well built (and well optioned) charger would last almost forever - as long as a decent washing machine say.
Thing about chargers is they won't go out of fashion, who cares too much what they actually look like, it's functionality is what's needed and long life and reliability.
