Getting an RDA

Hi all. I’ve not long been vaping, but I feel I’m ready for my first RDA. I’m still going to use my tank for all my general vaping when I’m out and about, but just fancy something a bit more for when I’m at home. I really like the look of the new ‘Profile’ from ‘Wotofo’. Comes with everything you need in the box, easy to build. Just looks like a great starter RDA.

I wondered, how long do coils and cotton last on these things on average. I realise there will be a lot of variables such as, the amount you vape and the wattage etc... but like... what would you expect to get out of an average coil or a piece of cotton?

Also, as I won’t be using it all the time, would it be ok to use on an evening out, then leave it to sit for a few days and crack on another day, or would the cotton go nasty?

Lastly, I like trying lots of different flavours. What are RDA’s like for changing flavours? Can you put lots of juices through the same cotton or would I need to change the piece of cotton for every different juice?

Cheers

Depends on the juice tbh. That's pretty much the main variable for how long cotton will last.

If it's really really sweet then you might need to change the cotton several times a day. If it's not sweet it can last days or longer.

Coils generally last a while if you're dry burning them when you rewick.

For instance I've been using the same cotton for 4 days now and probably won't change my coil for a month or so. I am using a fused clapton coil though.

I've had coils in rda's for over 6 month's (lazy git ) and still feel that they're fine. As far as cotton goes, if I use an rda for work I generally change the cotton every couple of days but I've had it in longer. You'll know when it needs changing.
I'm generally a lower power type of vaper. For rda's it can range from 35 to 50 watts so maybe that helps, not sure.
Juices can be the problem. A simple fruit such as lemon is very forgiving on cotton but sweet custards and creams can clog the cotton up but not always.
As far as changing the cotton when changing flavours, why not if that's your thing ( it's so easy to do ) . It really depends on the flavours as some can linger such as mint.
Sometimes the "mix" can be quite nice.

My best coil in an RDA was fitted in beginning of December last year and is still going strong despite almost daily use. Long as you look after it with regular dry burning and strumming to clean, they can last along time.

Cotton I change everytime I change liquid but that's just a personnel preference.

Should say these are on single coil Squonk RDAs.

ive got some coils from @Smut & 6 months on & still using them by dry burning, cheaper coils i change once a month if i remember ;) as for cotton i change mine every 2 days or so as i mostly vape custards or lemon tart.

I was going to mention @Smut as he has gone soooo vape famous, bit of a diva now ;) but.....

The coils I've had in 10 months are his aswell, don't tell him but he makes the best coils easily.

@Mike_1980 if you want coils that will last many months and produce excellent flavour, send Smut a message, may have to talk to his Secretary first though.

I take it by dry burning, you mean firing the coil with no cotton in it right?

I do indeed.

Fire the coil with no cotton or liquid until it glows orange then keep pulse firing to keep it orange and run the tip of ceramic tweezers over them to knock off any dried gunk.

Should see black flakes flying off. After that run it under tap to wash away rubbish, dry fire again to dry, let cool then rewick. Takes about 1 minute to do.

Cool, cheers
