So in my many years of vaping I never squonked until now. I bought the Hadron with backpack kit but had the Ragnar RDTA stuck on it for 6 months or so before I decided to try out squonking with the Nighmare 25 RDA.

This will sound like a noob question coming from a vaper of a fair amount of years and a lot of gear in the drawer, but is squonking meant to be a bit messy? Or RDAs in general? I have a few RDAs but have been a RTA vaper since 2017 or so. There's a lot of condensation around the RDA, I've oversquonked a couple of times, and once pressed the pump on the Hadron backpack a bit harder which shot a jet of juice up to my face.

Dunno if I am doing something wrong, the RDA works fine, flavour is very good but it gets pretty hot after chain vaping.

I will for sure dig up whatever RDAs I have and try them out, but I don't see RDAs supplanting RTAs for me.

I think the messy part of your problem is the backpack sends out a sizeable amount of juice with every button press. Steamcrave generally do big - and the Hadron/Backpack combo is geared up to be paired with a massive atty with an equally massive juice well and the atty you are using is a 'sensible' size.

But Yes, squonking can be messy if everything isn't just so, the slightest oversquonk will have juice pissing out of the air inlet ports and running everywhere. I find the traditional squeezy bottles easier to judge how much to squonk - and if you can see juice appearing at the air inlets you can let go of the bottle and (hopefully) suck the excess back before it pisses everywhere. Unfortunatelyit's a bit trickier with a pump as it doesn't suck back excess juice when you release the plunger - try taking half presses of the plunger instead of full ones to see if that helps

I've never found squonking messy to be honest but I've not used the Hadron before. One tip that may be helpful while you are getting used to it would be to use a RDA which has honeycomb airflow on the cap if you have one, on a lot of them you can squonk over it and it won't leak out (profile RDAs for example).

*Ah there's no suckback, yeah that can be messy lol

Been using this setup for a while, and have to say I am not getting any huge benefit other than seeing something other than a tank on a mod of mine for the first time :)

It even feels like a hassle: are the coils wet or dry? Better check not to oversquonk or get a dry hit. Especially picking it up in the morning for example...

Get a squonkable RDTA. Best of both worlds.

THC Tauren BF RDTA is a good bet.

Unfortunately gave both my spare away in a giveaway last month.

THC Tauren BF RDTA looks a good bet.

I think I'll just play along with my existing RDAs, when I manage to gid them up from wherever they are (in another country at the moment!). I think a squonkable tank like that is defeating the point of being a tank :)

Having fun overall though!

I’ll give a +1 for the Tauren RDTA. Lovely bit of kit. Thanks to @wraith .
I also have a Pyro V3 RDTA, which has a squonk pin. I’ve heard descent about the V4 which also comes with one. So that may be a option too. Both are non-spill. I’ve never had my V3 leak, since I bought it in 2019.

@Biochemist i see what you mean. But having both a squonk, and a tank that it fills, just means you have greater juice capacity and no dry hits, or over squonking.
My Pyro and Pulse 90 spent over 12 months as my only take out vape.

I see what you mean, I am usually using big tanks anyway, 6-8ml capacity, and if I will be out for a long time I also carry a 30ml chubby gorilla bottle with extra juice, never needed more.

Getting an issue after removing and washing the pumper backpack. I filled it with water and gave it a few good squeezes to clear out whatever was left in the tubes and now the plunger is not returning to the neutral position, it is getting stuck somewhere in the middle and I need to manually pull it out.

It's not a problem I cannot live with, but it is one I'd rather not live with, so any ideas for how to fix it would be very much appreciated! Not much info into how the internals are either.
