Having a go at making my own advice on buying please

PG Nic from Post Modern Smoker (comes in glass for storing/freezing). VG from Boots. Big bottle of PG from Amazon.

Flavours is something else... many I've bought aren't really very nice, or at least I've not mixed them well.

I've made a 100ml batch of 5% PG:VG with no flavour. I've calculated the mix so I can add 25% flavour. I then use 3 parts mix with :1 part flavour(s) for making testers. Saves a lot of time and effort and you can do small experiments in minutes without much cleaning up afterwards. Just use a pipette.

That's a lot of flavour ,is that the norm 25%? do u do 50/50 pg vg ? Cheers mate

Down load the potv ejuice calculator. To make 50mls of 50/50 you need 6.9 mls nicof your 7.2 18.1 mls pg and 25 mls VG. Havnt put any concentrate in as that is a personnel taste thing. Sorry the final strength is 10%

Is there an apple app or is it just on android for thee juice calculator? Thanks pez

As it's going to be an on going thing, I didn't really think about how much of everything I would need. I bought:

250ml bottle of 72mg nic base in PG
250ml bottle of PG
A few 200ml bottles of Boots VG
Flavourings
Measuring cylinders in different capacities (a must imo)
Syringes
Pipettes
Empty bottles
Lots of kitchen roll.

Then you can just add to and replace anything else you want or run out of.
Hope that helps. :)

Thanks Clint ,how much flavouring do u use as %

How long do u steep for after u have mixed

It depends really. I've used mainly capella flavours and found (for me personally) that 20% is about right for nearly all of their flavours. I think the capella range is good to start with as the percentage you find that suits you will be about the same for all and all the individual flavours are good just as they are.

I've just got into using other brands and it really is trial and error. Some flavours might only need as little as 5% and sone a lot more.

As for steeping, again, it's subjective but what I have found is that fruit type flavours are usually good to go agter 4 days to a week whereas dessert type flavours are usually better after 2 weeks and even up to a month of steeping.

The best thing you will do is just jump in and have a go. :)

Will do Clint,do u use sweeteners or just as is? Thanks mate

Hi there, 25% is a lot, but it allows me to mix several flavours. At only 5mg nic you can't really go wrong as it's going to be relatively weak in terms of nic. Once I've found a flavour or combo I like I mix a batch using stricter measures. This is just a quick and dirty way of tasting and mixing. In the past I've spent ages measuring and mixing something only to find it tastes rank. You can also dilute flavours with pg (or vg) to allow for even smaller batches eg add 100% (by volume) pg to a pg flavour and you effectively half it's strength. For me it's trying to mix without creating batches of not very nice juice. Once you've a rough idea of the recipe you can refine it using more accurate measures. Well that's the theory!!!!

Hi Chris, it's easy to get hung up on the technicalities of mixing. I liken it to making say an apple pie. You'll never make the exact same one twice. As long as the proportions are about right it'll taste like Apple pie. Obviously using nicotine requires some precautions, but i see it more like cooking than chemistry.

I do use EM crystals in a pg solution but sparingly. I find it destroys coils quickly as the residue builds up quickly. May be nonsense but that's is my experience.

Steeping does make a huge difference. As mentioned above certain flavours benefit from a week or so, others don't. You might also find that certain flavours seem to cancel each other out.

As there are so many other variables (type of wick, device used, condition of coil, battery etc etc) it's hard to be entirely objective when tasting you juice. Stick a strong flavour in a PT and it will doubtless be muted.

Def get a dripper (igo) for tasting though.

Sorry to drone on but hopefully at least some of my tuppence worth will be of use.

Enjoy
