Shenzhen is a major manufacturing centre for loads of technology companies, it's location means that exporting through Hong Kong is fast and efficient and Bao'an Airport is in close proximity too. There are tons and tons of 'technology centres' which are mini factories for smaller companies, stacked on multiple levels and then of course as these companies get larger they take up greater numbers of floors or blocks to suit.

Most of what you buy in terms of vape gear is manufactured or assembled in a very low square mile area :)

I dunno mate maybe its just a big main industrial district, there definitely not all the same mods just with different quality control etc as they all have subtle differences :)

Threading, materials, finishing, logos , size etc.

There are quite a few different districts, one of my suppliers as an example (Green Sound Tech) are situated in a district right next door to the airport whereas another is in the southern, more central Shenzhen that is closer to Hong Kong. As you say though there are many, often subtle differences between them despite most looking like they might be made in the same place.

Smaller wholesalers just buy up parts made by other manufacturers and assemble or resell them, others manufacture in house.

For me, as a buyer at least, I see a big difference sometimes in the QC on what first appear to be the same products from different companies.

Engraving on the authentic button is a hair bolder than the clone.

Pretty much spot on.

Here's where you can tell the differences visually.

Authentic button came with a brass spring, while the clone came with a much stiffer copper spring. Aside from my v.2 vented lockring upgrade, the button assemblies were pretty spot on. I think with a bit of polishing and a replacement spring, these will be pretty hard to tell apart.
