HELP!!! trying to drill 0.6mm holes in Stainless steel (and it ain't fun)

My igo L has one 2mm air hole and my igo T has two 1.5mm airholes. Just for the fun of it I drilled my rsst top cap airhole to 4mm although that's too large and can't wick fast enough

Try Drilling two 2.2mm holes into a stainless steel dripper... From scratch...
With only a hand drill...
;)

Anyone down near Penzance have the equipment to drill airholes? ;) Went to the only places in town that might be able to do it (locksmiths/ key cutters) and none had the right tools, and 1 even tried to tell me drilling holes in SS is -IMPOSSIBLE- ummm no, I trained in metal fabrication and welding, drilling holes through SS sheets for rivets when I was 14, so I know it IS possible!

Would be silly to buy a drill and the proper drill bits just to make 2 holes and never use it again, which is why I'm asking haha. XD

I used a 2.5 mm drill-bit to make 2 holes in my dripper cap with a variable speed B&D type drill and it took me about half an hour. I tried the Dremel-clone which only has a 22 watt motor for widening the original air-holes and that took me about 3 hours lying on the floor and gripping the cap in large pliers(torturous)for each hole. As has been said, the slower the drill,The less time taken(and the less snapped drill-bits)

A bench drill is the best way to go but I can't lift mine onto the bench atm. Keep you eye out for deals on bench drills at lidl. £40 when I last saw them on offer. 500w motor too.

thanks for the heads up - I'll be keeping an eye out for that one!

I'm sure it'll be useful for loads of things I haven't thought of yet.
Seems like my other strand of shinyitis is kicking in :thud:
